at startup, a window opens entitled "system32". in this window there are many folders with wierd names. so i did a google search on it and got differant stories, some of which saying its a registry problem, and others saying its a trojan.

is anyone familiar with this?

Those are all real system files....
That window should not open...
I would run your virus scan first, and check the "Start Up" folder in Programs, and let us know what happens :)

The exact same thing happened to me. It was slow in coming, every so often weird things would happen or some programs wouldn't respond. Then one day it was like those geek squad commercials; NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! :headbrick:

The tech at the service center I took it to said it was probably a defective drive from the factory it just took this long to finally puke out. Right after the warranty expired of course.
