View Full Version : To loctite or not to loctite

My question is if I NEED to use loctite when reinstalling the bolt screw of a stock aluminum spyder bolt? This screw holds the bolt pin in place. If I do have to use loctite, can I use blue instead of red?

I'm asking because I striped the bolt screw trying to get it out to perform some home modifications. I ended up spending TWO HOURS getting it out and discovered it was red loctited in place. I'd like to avoid using loctite if I can in case I have to remove this screw again later.

Use blue so you can remove it next time if you have to....but I would not reinstall it without any....

Yeah, I'm with Jimmy. I'd use blue locktite.

Red Loctite is meant to be permanent and heat is needed to remove it.

Blue Loctite is meet to be removed with standard tools no heat needed.

I use red Loctite for that set screw since there is so much continual jarring on the bolt pin and striker -
