View Full Version : Camo film: yes or no?

09-25-2006, 02:32 PM
So I got a few small scratches in the anno this past weekend and I thought I would put that clear adhesive film on the body to protect it. I had this camo gun film already and decided to try it instead. What do you guys think, yes or no?

Edit: New pics up.

agg, cut more holes around the shocker emblem, they'll break through eventually anyway

Yeah it looks ok. Keep it unless you find cooler film.

Meh, just get used to scratches. Its part of playing hard.

I never liked that glossy tape stuff. The best I used on my Sonix was the cloth tape version. It never faded and fit into the cracks and crevices much easier and tighter.

However, that looks pretty decent. Go with what you like the most! Hint - get some desert Hybrid grips - that'd look pretty sweet!

wait... they gave you a new style AA front with an old style AA back....?

That looks awesome, I love the camo tape.

And it looks better than flat black, so Protecting against scratches is really just a bonus in my opinion.

It looks nice! Go for some olive colored grips if you can find them. (I think thats what Vike was talking about) and it would look sweet! Would be great for woodsball! *Gets stealthy*

*GASP!* Idk if anyone else noticed this. But look at his posts!

and the film looks pretty nice. keep it

Gotta post something now, I guess. Ahhh...667!
I like those olive Hybrids but I'm really leary of them with the screw into the circuit board problem/thing. I've got Dye sticky 3's on my pilot and I think they're great.
Thanx for all the input on the film, (I was really undecided) I think I'll leave it on.

are what I'm talking about.

Those are really nice.

Vike, those were the grips I thought you meant. There is a problem associated with them. Since they are thinner than the stock grips, (where the screw holes are) there is a possibility of running the screws into the board behind them and damaging it. Solutions are to cut down and file the screws or get shorter.:)

09-26-2006, 04:49 AM
Yeah, I know about the screws - ever since I've had my shocker, in fact! However, if I remember correctly, they usually send the shorter screws with them now. You just have to watch it, is all. I just never liked those clear grips.

I think they include o-rings with them now, so you can't screw them in all the way. I know they do with the Ego grips, and I'm pretty sure the Hybrids I bought awhile back for my old Alias had them.

Yeah i just got the hybrid grips this week , they came with 2 shorter screws for the top which go in perfectly so you dont have to worrry about it :) , But those hybrids would look mint on your shocker !!!! get them!!

those grips are FTW!!!

Where did you get the camo film from? I may be coming into a gun that I think would look good with that.

And the Hybrid Grips are the bomb!!!!

You can get the camo film from any sporting goods place - I got my camo cloth tape from Wal-Mart.

Looks good, I would like to do that to my pump. What store did you get that specific camo tape from? My Walmart has some glossy ghetto camo that does not look good.

09-26-2006, 01:15 PM
Gander Mountain, they have all the realtree brand tapes; mossy oak, woodland, even white(snow). The roll is 2" wide and it says it won't mess up any finishes- it can be removed & re-applied.

09-26-2006, 01:18 PM
OK Sandman, do you have one near you? If so what is the cost for the tape and would you send it to me. No stores near me and they don't have an online store.

I would wrap the reg in that stuff along with new grips. That would look really good and help with reg wear.

09-26-2006, 01:23 PM
no prob, PM me (no sense in cluttering up the forums)with what color you want & your info-and I'll pick it up. I think it was less than $5. I just remembered I saw the stuff at Diick's Sporting goods too.

nah, its so much cooler like this, even if it doesnt reduce wear.

I agree with Vik. The cloth tape works alot better. I tried the vinyl tape on my TL-X and it wouldn't work into the small areas and was too thick. The cloth tape works great!

Allen Brand tape is what I've used and have had no problems with it. I've purchased Allen Brand cloth camo tape at Walmart, but they don't carry it all the time. The only bad part is it could take more than 1 roll to cover a gun. I used 1 1/2 rolls on my TL-X (including barrel).

You can also find it at other outdoor stores, specifically dealing with bow hunting; i.e. http://www.keystonecountrystore.com/

My $0.02:)

New pics:

I took everyone's advice on the grips and I dyed the ball detent/eye cover green, you like?

10-05-2006, 03:07 PM
omg, that looks amazing. good work

You should have gotten the green grips but it still looks good. I think the camo makes it look alittle better.
