Hi, i hope this thread will gather vital informations for us, spyder mr1 lovers.

What i am searching for is a Single Trigger Frame, but there is some compatibility problems with the usual frames i found, they says the original old kingman metal triger frame with m16 grip will not fit the mr1

I would like you all to help me up in creating a MR1 compatibility chart , to document which mods fits, and wich don't. I dont have much informations on my part but im sure this thread can evolve to a decent guide for the MR1. So here are the info i can put on, some infos are from this forum, please dont tell me: "there is a thread for this"

First. here my gun, updated pictures:

http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g115/taillo/DSC00638.jpg

http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g115/taillo/Offsetscope.jpg

The gun contains:
Spyder MR1
Pro-team mx4 mr1 stock, butt stock pad
CAA m4 Cheek Piece
Rap4 Phantom Handguard with a 16" rifled barrel and m16 bayonnet lug
Folding tactical grip and 3 King Arms rail covers
G&P Quick detach Offset sight rail
Aim point 40 mm red dot sight replica with cantilever mount
Ricochet 2K Loader
CCM MR1 & MR2 Feedneck Adapter & CCM Imp/Shocker/Ion Heli Clamp No Rise Feed Neck - Matt Black
Tactical sling
32 degrees Remote kit
CP Flame Drop Forward
Spyder Classic Trigger Frame with mr1 trigger spring

About mods:

Barrel: To stay in the same color scheme, the Trinity 14" or 16" for spyder will fit and improve accuracy. Other standard issue spyder barrels will fit. No room and no easy fitting for an under barrel volumizer.
J&J Ceramic 14" is particularly loved by forums members owning an mr1.
(UPDATE: some people said the Hammerhead barrel fit the mr1, but this is wrong, according to RAP4, the treadings are ok, but the barrel diameter does not fit the MR1/MR2 barrel casing, up to you to prove them wrong)

Handguard: BT M4 handguard: look for the handguard only, the BT barrel are not fitted to the spyder but the handguard has adjustable screws to have it fitted on any barrel, the handguard is 9", so if you have 9" free between the underbarrel cylinder and your muzzle, it will fit, the problem is: the damn thing cost 150$ i decided to buy another one from rap4, they also are 150$ but they come with a 16" rifled barrel that can be fit to the mr1.
(Update: Trinity has m16 and ak47 handguards that fits on the mr1. Rap4 also makes some killer handguards with cool barrels ---> newest handguard: the m16 vietnam version!!!

Expansion chamber: I have seen mr1s with expansion chambers, replacing the
original foregrip. Remote coil can replace the utility of an expansion chamber.
Some of us are still waiting for an answer to this question: the ak47 and m16 expansion chamber from Trinity, will they fit the mr1? (UPDATE: recently answered on another forum, yes the m16 fits, but it makes a half inch space between the marker and the expansion chamber which looks very awkward. the ak47 is for the mr2, not for the mr1.)

Stock: I love the sawed off dogleg design cutted from the original stock, but there are a couple stock out there that will fit:

Allen Paintball Products Hittmann Stock
GunHead Spyder-O Stock
Trinity Paintball Spyder Military Stock
Blackpoint Engineering Combat Folding Stock
Special Ops Paintball T2W Stock
In Yo Face Paintball Products Universal T-Stock
[UPDATE] Pro team fx commando stock for mr1 and mr2, Proteam mx4 stock for mr1 and mr2.
Rap4 m4 stocks: be cautious, they dont fit as well as it is shown, PBGrandpa had those issues on his mr1.

Bolt: The original bolt is very good, i see no need to change it. i have read some people who have messed up with their detent and it created ball chopping problems. Be cautious when playing with that part.
The rocking trigger frame sometimes come with an upgrade bolt, it will fit on the mr1.
(UPDATE: A good recommendation would be the delrin bolt, some users said.)

Sight Rail: Look for sight, scopes and offset rail or riser for standard 7/8" dovetail, RIS, picatinny rails. Dont buy scopes or sight for 3/8" ( 10mm) they are for .22 rifles and pellet guns.
The In Yo Face off set rail will not fit. ( it is made for 3/8" dovetail, the mr1 has a 7/8".
The 45degrees offset rail will fit
any small rail riser will fit, but be aware the size of your sight can come in the way with the hopper and the cocking hammer.
A m16 carry handle rail will not fit.
[UPDATE] G&P QD Side Rail : , that angle your sight 45 degrees. There are two avalaible, one is with a normal screw, mine is with a quick detachment arm.
The tightening arm was too tight, so i buffered it a little with the dremel and it works fine.

Ive bought it there www.wgcshop.com and it is also disponible here http://stores.ebay.com/eHobby-Asia-Airsoft-Supplier and at evike.

Trigger: Mechanical trigger frames from older spyders will fit, in fact i believe the mr1 can take every trigger frame for spyders on the market, except maybe from pump markers, if you can try it, tell me.
I have exchanged the mr1 trigger frame for a spyder classic single trigger frame. The trigger frame from the mr1 did not fit on the classic frame, maybe older markers like the classic and compact cant take newest eletro triggers as a rocking trigger.
Note: If you go electronic on the mr1, you will probably need a better bolt.

Grip: None, yet no one has found grips that fit the MR1 without doing some modifications to it. This is a known issue because the grips vanishes over time as the rubber peels off during every game. The cheapest solution is to cover them with cloth, pasted with glue under the grip. (UPDATE: I made grips with wood, wich is very easy with a dremel. Trick: when the rubber peels of the grip, burn the peeled rubber with with a lighter. )

Loader: Every non-A5 loader will fit of course, but be aware if you want a QLoader, it needs an additional 35$ special fitting.
(UPDATE: The main problem with the QLoader is fine tuning it, once its done, its a fantastic loading system)

[UPDATE]: Feedneck: As announced in another post, the sundragon mr1 vertical feedneck is made for the mr1 and mr2, and im looking for a place to buy it, that ships to canada, cause sundragon wont. [UPDATE] CCM is the manufactuer of the feed neck, and they sell it and ship it to canada!!! ( even if not displayed on their site, just contact them and they will be happy to provide feednecks to canadian customers.

http://www.chipleymachine.com/

I think thats all for what i know, i may have forgotten some details but ill post them later, when they come to mind.

Please, feel free to add any information that will help me, and MR1 lovers to tune up the hard to tune MR1.

Thanks

RAP 4 has a couple of thing that fits the mr1,
I told earlier about a m4 hand guard of 120$, i have the specs now:
M4 Whitout weaver rail: 60$
M4 Phantom with 3 weaver rail: 95$
M4 Phantom with 3 weaver rail ( long ) 120$
+
Front sight 25$

Thats quitte expensive since it overcomes the marker's price.

Single trigger frame.... wouldnt a Spyder Compact trigger frame work?

Taillo
10-02-2006, 01:37 PM
Unfortunately no, according to kingman technicians, they are for an old series of spyder markers with different threadings.
If ever you can try one without paying, and it works, let me know cause i want it too.

Ace24
10-02-2006, 09:06 PM
Yeah I want that Mil-sim look with a single trigger... preferably a sliding trigger. Makes it feel more realistic... Also there is really no need for a double trigger mech gun. If I can get my hands on a compact trigger frame I will let you know. But if that other frame works, I might go for it.

Be sure to talk with the support people to see if the pieces you want will fit on your gun. According to the support team, they have 3 barrels for the mr series, all barrels are rifled and vented. They also have special handguards packages to fit on any marker.

I found this site which is selling an A-5 sight rail (offset) and i was wondering if it would fit. I want to order a rail that would fit my Mr1 but i cant find any cheap ones that i can order from close by (Ontario Canada).

No the offset rail is only for A5, like almost everything labeled as a A5 product.

For an offset rail, see this one : http://www.evike.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=W&Product_Code=RIS_GP498&Category_Code=UP_RIS_RAS_RAILS

I am pretty sure it will fit on the mr1 and after installation, any other sight will fit on it.

The Adco Hot Shot sight does fit but you have to put it at the very front,in front of the elbow. There is just enough rail left. The only thing is it does not work with the original stock and mask on . If you found a Mount that could raise it up it would work.

For those who are in Canada like me and want the CCM feedneck adaptor displayed on the sundragon website, it is avalaible directly at http://www.chipleymachine.com/ the feedneck's manufacturer. The feedneck is not on their website, but they have it, just contact them and tell them you want those two items:

CCM Imp/Shocker/Ion Heli Clamp No Rise Feed Neck - Matt Black

And they will ship it to Canada!!!

I never got a chance to read all the posts on this page, but if noone has said this yet, The MR3 Sight rail fits perfectly on the MR1. I bought one from my local paintball store who ordere dit from Spyder and it cost $54 canadian for the sight rail. It helps.

Yes i did the mag out of balza, but balza is as soft as foam, so this is only a prototype, i will make a harder version with harder wood but the attachment method will be the same as this one. When it will be done, ill posts plans for you out there to build it yourself.

I was really working on a way to attach it, more than making it a perfect mag replica. Next one will be more realistic.

Hey.I was looking to upgrade my MR1 and I found an Apex that would fit here

I dont think that would fit because it would get in the way of the reservoir plug. Even if the handguard was moveable, u wouldnt be able to move it much because of the Apex tip.

If you are looking for an M4 style handguard especially made for the mr1, mr2, and mr3, check this out

Taillo
02-21-2007, 07:21 PM
I got the rifled barrel from the handguard package, and i love it, the fact that it is rifled really works for me.

At 30 feets, the ball always hit the dot on my sight. Further balls grouped in a 2 inches radius. However, for the range, i am not sure yet. I think it is bore sized tight and needs more pressure for the balls to pass trough it.

The handguard is heavy but very solid and firm. 3 rails and a m-16 sight with sling stud and bayonnet lug.

So..does anyone know of any compatible parts to make the MR-1 look like the M-1 Thompson?

Critical
03-21-2007, 06:17 AM
That would be tough, the Thompson stock attaches underneath the rear of the main piece and the trigger frame sits very far forward.

Taillo
03-21-2007, 11:45 AM
There is no such parts on sale right now. But i suggest you do it out of wood, or, check on ebay, there are thompson parts for sale sometimes, you could take a real stock and handguard and fit an attachment method. But it is true if you fit a thompson stock on the same slot used to fit the mr1 stock, it will not look cool. So to get more good looking you would have to build it out of wood to make it part of the handle. This way it would be placed underneath the gun and attached directly on the trigger frame.

how do you like your car stocks? are they worth the cost? i dont care about looks just function.

Taillo
08-26-2007, 11:01 AM
It is worth the cost, it is very solid and looks very nice. Easily installed and operated. Note that i have the fx stock not only the commando and the difference is the integrated sling attachment made of steel instead of plastic.
The only drawback is the weight. It is heavy, really heavy and added with the rap4 handguard my gun is a pain to carry. Even with a sling i have pain in the shoulders at the end of the day.

Taillo - How do you like that foregrip? I found it in a few spots and was going to get it at first until I noticed that's it's basically just a shell that doesn't even rap all the way around which made it seem really cheap to me. I like the price and the folding aspect of it though. Does it seem week or anything to you? There's a few other ones I found that don't fold but do have compartments inside of them.

This is a replica of something that is usualy very expensive. Pretty nice thing you found there.

This is the most standard grip and you wont need the battery feature on it. But the price is decent.

I payed around 25$ for my folding grip, i dont fold it often but the hand feel is firm and the empty space inside it is not incomfortable, you can also put a square 12v battery in it. It is solid enough to survive every battle i think the only thing that would destroy it would be a sword bash...

Check out "www.cheaperthandirt.com" for some *interesting* tactical add-ons for guns. Much of the stuff that tacs out a shotgun's barrel will attach to a paintball guns' barrel as well. I particularly like this: pt. num. "SHT-070", it's a 5 rail barrel mount for around 22$ each. 2 or 3 of these, and you've got yourself a functional "shroud" that you can mount additional accessories/sights/etc to.

[QUOTE=Taillo]Rap4 m4 stocks: be cautious, they dont fit as well as it is shown, PBGrandpa had those issues on his mr1./QUOTE]

Everyone says it doesn't fit right, but thats because you replace the velocity adjuster with it. On the front end of the stock you'll see a groove that looks remarkably similar to a striker's groove. Put it in like you would a striker. I have it and it fits perfectly.

EDIT: Wherever it says striker I meant velocity adjuster.

Also I was wondering if they make just a standard Richochet barrel for this (non electric) Did you meant Ricochet loader?

The only standard offset i know that fits the mr1 is the mr2 carry handle which attach to the 7/8 rail on the mr1 and results with a 3/8 on top, but this is only a riser. To offset it, you would need the carry handle with on top, a 3/8 to 3/8 side offset something like this: http://www.pbreview.com/products/reviews/2981/

By the way there is a new 7/8 offset that might interest you guys:
http://www.danieldefense.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=113

As for the ricochet loader, first, there is 4 types of loaders.
The standard, includes any gravity fed and also electro.
The A5 cyclone feed, rarely electro because the A5 does the feed.
The Tube fed, includes the Qloader and power feeds.
The mag fed, only seen in tiberius, rap4, ariakon milsim guns.

The ricochet only comes in two category: Standard and A5 Cyclone.
So, any ricochet that has its marker input tube 1" large is a standard and will fit the mr1. If the tube going in the marker is larger than 1" , its the A5 cyclone ( called ricochet R5 ) and there is no way to fit in on the mr1. But its the only ricochet i know is not electrical.

I dont know any ricochet loader that is only gravity fed. I think to get one you will have to buy an empty loader shell. Ricochet send those to people who broke theirs but still have intact internals. You may try their customer service and say you only want the shell, maybe they send it for free.

Unfortunately i think thet took their website down, gonna have to research to find the customer support contact.

Does anybody have experience with Trinity Barrels? I've been eying the tactical and army barrels, the former definitely fitting the MR1 and the latter possibly fitting. Opinions? Reviews? http://www.trinitypaintball.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=2

Trinity barrels does not match a j&j imo.
I used a 14" accurate style, it did improve compared to the stock barrel.

There is a good chance the internals you have in the original mr1 handle are compatible with the bob long .45 frame, but because i was not sure 100% i decided to go for a spyder classic trigger frame. I got one on ebay 30$ gun included.
