what does a regulator do to your gun????????????????????

It regulates the input pressure which is variable (especially with co2) to a more constant pressure. It also allows you to lower input pressure.

there is very high air pressure or CO2 coming in to the marker from the tank around 800-1200psi, a regulator will lower that pressure down to where you want it to be before it goes into your valve/ internals to fire the paintball. For example in my marker the tank releases 1000 psi of air in the ASA then that air goes through the macroline to the regulator, the regulator then only lets a certant amount of psi into the marker , in my case 300psi. A regulator also helps make each shot of air going into the gun more consistant, by regulating the pressure it tends to keep the pressure pretty close to the same each time a ball is fired.
