Well some of you OS members will remember Dragos post in the NPT about a super Sammich. This here is very similar to that one.

Background.

Well most of you guys know that my wife and I are very competitive, and when I told her today that I could make a better sammich than her she decided to call me out on it with a little wager.

The Deal...

Same kind of bread, Same size bread, Same resources. Must go shopping for ingredients at separate times as to not steal any ideas. No condiments (as our taste testers did not care for any). $100 Wager.

2 part testing, the taste test was provided by our oldest daughter Steph of whom I felt would be biased towards Shanna so I had a 2nd taste tester flown in from Iraq in the form of a Marine Scout Sniper... my brother (who also likes Shanna better than me :s)

The visual/ingredient test will be provided by you guys. The pictures suck as it is hard to take pics of a sammich in low lighting (how Subway does it I will never know) so you are going to have to go by our descriptions mostly.

I am not going to reveal who's is who's until after the poll closes as I know most of you guys would vote for Shanna rather than myself out of spite.. :p

Sammich #1

White bread hollowed out to fit more in it.
Provolone Cheese (Cooper Brand)
Thickly sliced Virginia Smoked/Cured Ham (Smithfield brand)
Regular sliced Smoked Turkey Breast (Carolina Brand)
Regular sliced Hard Salami (Hormel brand)
Regular sliced Sandwich Pepperoni (Hormel brand)
Green Peppers
Spanish Onions
Hot House brand tomatoes
Sandwich Slice Kosher Dill Pickles
Itallian Seasoning
Crushed red pepper

Sammich #2
White Bread
White American Cheese (Cabot Brand)
Shaved Honey Ham (Hormel Brand)
Shaved Smoked Turkey Breast (Pepperidge farms)
Shaved Genoa Salami (Genoa brand)
Green Peppers sliced very thin
Medium Red Peppers sliced very thin
Regular Tomato sliced very thin
Red Onion (spicy) shaved
Sandwich Slice Kosher Dill Pickles
Pepper salt and chopped red pepper

Sry, I gotta go with #2 and I'm pretty sure that one's Shanna's(though DRAGON's have been known to be wrong occasionally). And I'm not biased, it's just teh better sammich lol -

Minus the green and red peppers, I'd have to go with #2 for taste and ingredients, but the dang picture took too long to load for #1 so I can't vote for looks. I'm a provolone, and shaved deli man myself - oh and I'm a bit heavy, so I'm an expert!

eh... not big on teh veggies either, i could go for everything but pickles if it was loaded with meat. i say #2

The photos your are seeing are exactly 1/2 of each sammich, there is roughly 3 lbs of meat total on each sammich.

still the veggie/meat ratio is too high... by some veggies i mean like in a suace or pepper shaker :dodgy:

i dont do:
tomatos
pickles
mayo

large chunks of:
onions
pepers

and i prefer peppers that are dried.


speaking of dried... where are the sun dried tomatos? i hear they are really big in brazil.... :D

Sammich #2 for me. I like how the meats set up ... and more veggies on the 2nd sammich. As long as the bread doesn't get too soggy, im good :p

Josh, these red onions are indeed spicy, they are not reffered to as just red onions, they said on the tag at the store "Spicy red onions" and they did indeed taste rather spicy.

Talk to the canadians that I bought them from.

Not into veggies just straight cheese, maybe lettuce and a bunch of meat and potato chips on the sandwich, I love the way it adds a crunch to it
