i dont know if you guys heard about this but, aol released search records of its users to the public earlier this week for research purposes. they formatted it so that screen names were not shown, just a random number given to the user. but from the list of their searches some people were easily identified in less than a few hours. the list was pulled off the interent, but you can still get it legally anywhere its up for a download. thoughts?

Well that info might be more relavant in about 1 month. AOL just announced it is going to be FREE (I am not sure of this but I think it is to everyone..but it was geared @ high speed users.) This will mean that more people are going to be using it now because of the interface use for the average person. My in-laws are refusing to get High Speed because they didn't want to pay for AOL and HS. My in-laws FEAR change.

The info they released will be relavant to me if they find searching for info on Christopher Columbus is of interest to people...The last time I used AOL for something was 1994 when I first got on-line....of course there was a lot more text based things....not really a Naked Lady Thing....YET!

they were trying to get google to do the same thing, but what i heard is that they were trying to see how many people were using the search engine for porn or something like that.

When a local university I worked for began giving laptops to every full time student and renting them to part time students we did our own study on searching. We found that 76% of the searches were to adult themed website. This was 2001. I bet that number is even higher now.

I love how he searches for the porn, then later you read him searching for a spyware/ virus killer ROFL. His porn got him targeted by spyware and viruses

How does one turn a sn into a number?
ive tried searching consecutive numbers and got nothing... so id assume they are preassigned to a s/n that fits in their character limit and then whatever it is aplhabetically it gets that number.
