I've been thinking about building a timmy as a side project. Has anyone here ever done this before? I figuard I could get everything for relitivly cheap from used deals on PBnation and here. The only thing I think i would have a problem finding would be a body. Any input is appreciated.

Wrong. You will spend more putting one together than you could just buying one. I'll just throw ballpark estimate prices, this assuming you are doing a Alias build.
Wiring = $50
Board = $25-75
LPR Block = $50
Reg = $30-50
Trigger = $10-15
Screw kit = $5
Ram and Sleeve = $50
Bolt and pin = $10
Barrel = $25-50
Total = $500-650
These are ballpark estimates. You may find things cheaper, but when I was pricing things out these are roughly the numbers I was seeing. If you want to build a 2k2 style Timmy it will be much cheaper, but then again, you could buy one much cheaper than a Alias. You will probably spend the same or a little more building a Timmy, especially when you factor in shipping. Buying one is the easiest way.

there are tons of parts on PBN, finding a body won't be hard. building a timmy isnt too hard, i say go for it.
you'll also need a selonoid, barbs and hoses.

Yeah, forgot about the noid. Add another $60-80 for the noid and barbs, hose is $1 a foot so thats no biggie.
Its VERY VERY VERY VERY easy to put together a Timmy, but its not cost effective. Its gonna be either the same price or more expensive than buying a comparable Timmy complete.

but he doesn't have to spend the money all at one time, so it could be easier on the wallet in a sense

Ouch $500-$650 is a lot. I probably won't do it now, the only thing that still makes me want to do it is that it would be a gun that I built from scratch, but it's going to cost a lot to do, probably to much for a 15 year old with no job. I have around $300 now, but I am also concidering buy a cell phone with plan for $250, or building a gun.

You need a $250 phone at 15? I think buying a decent phone would make more sense. You'd save money and you could use the money for something more useful. I don't even have a super cool phone and I've got no trouble buying one. I've found waaaay better things to invest my money into.

LOL its gunna sound like im spamming but i have some timmy parts i can let go for cheap... i wanted to finish my project but then torney season came around and it just never happend....
The pros about building a timmy is that you can get all the parts you want to get instead of having someone else build it and its not exactly what you want...

Used to be easy and cheap to do it. Timmy guys would part out to sell the frame and body and let everything else go cheap. Now most people are building or spimmying their guns. Sellers now realize they can get their stuff sold fast for $5-$15 under retail.
Hit up IOG. They always have cheap timmies for sale. Buy something cheap, with like a 2k2 frame then work on 2k5ing or something. Then the gun is more or less custom built but you had a gun to play with through the project.
