Can somebody explain this to me???

Yeah weird thing happened to me in school today and I dont really understand it. Here goes:

I was in Computer Applications class and I had finished all my work for the year. I was helping a friend write his speech to run for class secretary and laughing quietly. The teacher (about 60-65 years old) walks up and yells at me. "Stop giggling, there's no laughing allowed in this class. You should be doing your work!" So I respond, "I've finished all my work, what am I supposed to be doing?" which he returns with, "If you're done all your work find something to do. Do you need me to give you work?" Of course I was thinking in my head, well gad, I found something to do and was doing it, but I didn't really want to be a smart@$$ so I just replied with "No." About a minute later he walks back towards me and stares at me for 3 or 4 minutes straight. I turned around and asked in a calm, non-jerkly way, "Are you waiting for something?" Well I guess that was a bad move because he told me to turn off my computer and go to the office. WTF? Me: "Can I ask what I did wrong?" He responded, "Looks like somebody took their Smart Pills today, go to the office now!"

Ok, I could have argued with him some more, but I decided that couldn't make things any better so I packed up my stuff and walked out of the room. I went to the office and a couple minutes later he called the office and told them I was being belligerent and arguing with him. Uh what?!?! I didn't really get in any serious trouble, just the sercretarys asking if I was being dissmissed, I have (had) a strong reputation for not getting in trouble. When they found out why I was down there they knew that it wasn't really my fault. While I was down in the office I changed my course scheduele for next year so I don't have him for a teacher any more, thank god.

So can somebody please tell me what I did wrong? What could I have done differently in my situation? All of my classmates were stunned and kind of appalled that I got kicked out of class, especially because it was an illegitimate reason.

Nurturing.....LOL - you know those movies where a person is just sitting there and suddenly they flash to a scene where something bad is happening, like someone flips out and starts choking someone else, then they flash back to "reality" and it didn't really happen and they just answer calmly....

The trick is to not act on that impulse....:rolleyes:

How would you feel if you just had a bran muffin and your Depends was stuffed full and you couldn't change it because lil brats like you might talk to each other and have a lil fun while you were gone? A little 'anal retentive' I suppose? - :dodgy:

I just told them what happened, asked them if they wanted to call down any student in that class to verify my story because I was telling the truth and it may have seemed a little like "I didn't do anything, it wasn't MY fault" - type thing. I didn't really get any punishment except missing 30 minutes of Computer Applications, which is more like a reward anyways, haha.

Yeah, I'm still in school. Final Exams are next week and I get out on Thursday FINALLY!

So can anybody tell me a better way I could have dealt with this so it doesn't happen next time?

Thing is you prolly handeled it as best as you could. Sounds like you're not on the good side of this guy and most likely never will be. Even if you kiss his wrinkled :butwiggle: things will prolly never change. Stick it out for another week and wash your hands of him.......you're done - ;)

to avoid confrontations, yield to the teacher, let them win, so they feel specail.

but seriously, thats no fun so here is my real advice:
were you "giggling" or were you helping? if you werent laughing would have explained polietly that i was assisting another student in his learning experience since clearly he had not; like so: "hey! why dont you go back to your corner, i was doing your job for you."

haha one of the lasts days of school i came in and i was done with my work like you, and i was on these forums. My teacher came over (hes like 28) and kinda wierd, but he came over and asked why i was on the internet, because usually thats a Detention, and I said sorry im on these forums because i was done with my work. We went into a 10 minute discussion on how this site works, and the filters, and all that junk, and PMs and all, i did get detention, tho, just for his benifit he wanted me to explain more about how the forum works

my government teacher would never call on me durring a debate. he would always call on very liberal people and then on a geoge bush yes man. obviously the liberal statements blew through the simple minded republican (by this statement i am saying he is republican and is simple minded, not associating one with the other, just saying the kid doesnt have a mind of his own) so it always looked like the liberals were winning. he calls on me 1 time the entire semester, i blow right through his arguments, and create an argument that EVERYONE in the class agrees on. after holding my hand up for 15 minutes, with some of the kids pointing at me to get more attention cuz me sitting there with my hand up is driving them nuts. i didnt treat him with respect for the rest of the year, because in my book he didnt earn it. you want to be a teacher people like, you dont have to be nice, you dont have to care, you have to be fair to the clas, thats all. i dont need a friend or another parent to look out for me, but instead a moderator who allows ideas to flow in a manner that expresses the entire class, not a one sided argument.

sorta a rant, but it had to do with bad teachers. i wouldnt give that teacher very much respect from what ive heard, honestly id need to be in his class to know for sure, but if he has students that need help, you offer it and he shuts you down, then he gets nothing.

and yes vike, in my book you got mad props.

all you have to do is not have an attitude towards teachers, no matter if they had one first. you will always lose if you get upset.
