I am currently waiting for the mailman to bring me the 17yr olds report card...but let me just say that she's been on Honor Role for the first three quarters...she was accepted into 'Dual Enrollment' for her Senior Year meaning, she goes toHS the first half of the day and College the second half...
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++
Now...while I sit here and gloat, there's a lesson to be learned here...
*Parents need to spend time with their children.
*Children should be receptive to that when offered.
*Reading and watching shows like "The History Chanel" and "The Discovery Chanel" work wonders.
*Discipline works. (ask Bigred or bomberpilot) Letting the kids rule the parents is unacceptable. Children need to know their place in the family structure.
*Chores never killed anyone.
*Music (a variety) expands the mind (we listen to everything from Classical to pop to Metal/Industrial). 4 of the 5 of us play(ed) musical instruments.
*Excess money means very little (because we aren't 'rich').
*Communication is key. (now the 17yr old shares very little with the "overprotective father" but blabbs to her mother like a girlfriend...which is fine by me...)
