I am currently waiting for the mailman to bring me the 17yr olds report card...but let me just say that she's been on Honor Role for the first three quarters...she was accepted into 'Dual Enrollment' for her Senior Year meaning, she goes toHS the first half of the day and College the second half...
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++

Now...while I sit here and gloat, there's a lesson to be learned here...

*Parents need to spend time with their children.
*Children should be receptive to that when offered.
*Reading and watching shows like "The History Chanel" and "The Discovery Chanel" work wonders.
*Discipline works. (ask Bigred or bomberpilot) Letting the kids rule the parents is unacceptable. Children need to know their place in the family structure.
*Chores never killed anyone.
*Music (a variety) expands the mind (we listen to everything from Classical to pop to Metal/Industrial). 4 of the 5 of us play(ed) musical instruments.
*Excess money means very little (because we aren't 'rich').
*Communication is key. (now the 17yr old shares very little with the "overprotective father" but blabbs to her mother like a girlfriend...which is fine by me...)

i made my parents proud at my graduation last month. National Honor Society, only magna cum laude (90-95.999 cumlative GPA; i had a 95.94, bastards wouldnt give me summa :flame:) to get the school's Amon G. Carter award (7 semesters of 95 or higher; came with a big medal :D), German Honor Society (cool red, black, gold cord), and i got the Calc BC AP award (only 3 of us in the class) and us govt award (go figure ).

Now i'm just waiting on my ap scores. Wish me luck!

Druid, don't you dare show me up next year when your daughter graduates!:nunu:Also, me thinks she must be pretty good looking if she's that smart and a child of druid.

Congratulations, Druid. It always feels good when your child does well in school. I know both mine did exceptionally well this year (although I was worried all year over my oldest daughter's math grade, but she pulled it out after all!)

Congrats to all the proud parents and their offspring who have worked so hard to achieve such high marks! I just heard from my daughter who has completed her first year of high school and got a bunch of A's and one B. Truly awesome.

HAHA! Reminds me, I actually had an F all first semester... then I turned in my (fake :dodgy:) hours for independent PE. Second semester, I took a class at school for it.

If my parents threatened that they would throw me in the clink with a bunch of killers for a week if I didn't get all good marks, my report card would have looked like that as well lol -

j/k Druid, you're rightfully elated....kudos -

Congrats Druid!!!!!
Both my High Schoolers got over 3.2....
being there, listening AND hearing are the keys...i agree
(letting them bonus ball me on the weekends helps their egos too!!! lol!)
(i think I get the stuff, not so much Momma cause they are both boys, but we are both here for them and that matters alot too!)
Great parenting makes great kids....obivously you two are great parents!!!

If it wasn't for my parents riding me hard I probably wouldn't be such a perfectionist when it comes to school..but I'm glad they did..I just finished my first year of dual enrollment as a Junior and I kept a 4.0 GPA all year long. Earned 13 hours of transfer credit, that's half the required credit to transfer as a Junior to a 4 year university..:) So I'm doing my parent's gloating..haha I'm proud of myself..
