06-12-2006, 07:39 AM
hey guys i just wanted to let you all know that i may have found a barrel kit that u can use without having to take off the shroud to make it fit! i have gotten ahold of python paintball products and they are gonna try and make it fit w/ my mr2. so when it comes in ill let you guys know if it works or not

06-12-2006, 02:47 PM
Why make a barrel kit when they can just make a new shroud? Dumb dumb

06-12-2006, 03:02 PM
well if your talkin about kingman makin a new shroud then forget about it! pigs will fly out my @$$ before kinman does somethin like that

06-12-2006, 07:51 PM
you said it, wydle

06-13-2006, 03:38 AM
wait wait wait...

I can't use any common spyder thread barrel for the MR series?!?

This is not what the local pro-shop told me ... but he's maybe wrong!

06-13-2006, 06:33 AM
yea the only barrel you can use on the mr2 is the J&J fulll tilt ceramic i believe.(someone correct me if im wrong). but im talkin to the python people and tryin to make a kit that fits the mr2 perfectly without having to take the shroud off if your one of those type people that like to keep it on there for looks!

06-13-2006, 07:02 AM
Ok ... i found that only the MR2 is touch by this..not the MR1...

Cause the MR1 dont have a shroud like the MR2...

06-13-2006, 07:18 AM
correct! do you already have one of the mr markers or are you looking at getting one? im not much help but i could answer some questions that pop up

06-13-2006, 07:29 AM
Yeah...i have a MR1 at the moment...

I'm please with it...but i need to upgrade some parts...

06-13-2006, 09:33 AM
cool.... ive got an mr2 and am very well pleased and have had no trouble with it!(unlike all the other people in this forum)

06-13-2006, 09:56 AM
I love my mr2 I have yet to have problems with mine, except for when my e-loaders batteries were dying in the middle of WAR!!!! besides that ALOT of people ask me about it as well. Its a great gun out of the box and a few upgrades just make it that much greater!

06-13-2006, 12:01 PM
Couldn't Spyder just make a fitting to extend the barrel ******d and out of the shroud? That way you could put any spyder fitting barrel on it. Hell, I am sure there is some kinda fitting out there or in development that can do that right?

06-13-2006, 05:27 PM
well there may be something like that out there but i doubt that kingman would do it. when they make a gun they never really change the gun all that much

06-14-2006, 05:34 PM
Hey, Do you guys think it would be possible to bore the shroud out with a larger drill to accomodate a barrel with a thick base, or do you think thats asking for trouble? I know a machinest so i could get him to do it for me.

06-14-2006, 06:05 PM
well i thought about it but you only really get one chance at it due to the shroud width being not all that large(if you know what i mean)

06-14-2006, 06:06 PM
Hey, Do you guys think it would be possible to bore the shroud out with a larger drill to accomodate a barrel with a thick base, or do you think thats asking for trouble? I know a machinest so i could get him to do it for me.

You'd probly have better luck with a mill, but maybe a drill as long as the shroud is FIRMLY held down and doesn't shift, the hard part of it, is making sure that shroud is 90 degrees vertical and that the drill bit is also 90 degrees vert. If there is any play in either one you could have a crooked hole and the barrel wont fit.

06-14-2006, 06:13 PM
Use a drill press.... with a really big drill bit adapter lol.

06-14-2006, 08:13 PM
Yeah, the guy i know if a professional machinist, be builds all sorts of precision little gears and shafts and other dealies, Im pretty if anyone could do it, he could...it might be worth giving it a shot. I'll keep you guys posted.

06-15-2006, 07:39 AM
well then go for it.... tell us all how it works out

06-18-2006, 06:36 PM
It just dosn't look like there is much room to bore the shroud out much, but good luck on that.
As for the barrels, any Spyder thread barrel will work on an MR1, they don't have the shroud that the MR2 has. J&J barrels, the regular one piece ceramic work, 100%, I have one on my MR2. The Full Tilt two piece sets are another story. I don't know for sure, but they look thicker than the one piece. The one piece as a good amount of extra room though. Has anyone tried the Full Tilt set on an MR2 yet?

06-18-2006, 06:51 PM
i knew about the J&J's but i wanted an actuall barrel kit to put on it so my shots will be just a little more accurate

06-18-2006, 06:56 PM
Yeah, I'm not sure on that. I'm not motivated enough to drive an hour+ to get to the more equipped shops to check it out, but if I do, I'll bring in my MR2 and check it out.

06-19-2006, 09:14 AM
what r u not sure on?

07-18-2006, 08:01 AM
ok guys i just wanted to give an update on the new possible barrel kit from python paintball. i got an email from them last night and they are sending the barrell adapter to me to see if it fits through the shroud. when i get it i will post back and let you guys know

07-22-2006, 07:27 PM
well so far its lookin like a big NO!!!! but im sending it back and they are going to do a little bit more work on it and ill get it soon.

08-02-2006, 08:14 AM
man I HATE THE SHROUD IT GETS IN THE WAY FORR EVERY THING!! like my friend let me boro his all amreican freak barrel set and it didnt fit and i am PISTOFF!! cause i was using that stock barrel what suckes whaen i could of used a freak barrel set!!!

08-02-2006, 09:41 PM
If you use an extension to get the barrel away from the MR2 shroud....That kinda defeats the purpose of having the barrel kit, it just doesnt work that way.

12-01-2006, 01:26 PM
hey guys python paintball now makes a compression system just for the mr2. im thinkin on gettin one now.

12-01-2006, 02:52 PM
got a link:)

12-01-2006, 03:26 PM
just go to www.pythonpaintball.com and you can find it from there!!!

12-02-2006, 06:23 AM
So its just like a bore kit.(im kinda confused)

12-02-2006, 06:51 AM
kinda...its like the back of a barrel kit. it has the sleeves and the back. that allows you to use any barrel you want instead of having a kit that you can only use the barrel that comes with it.

12-02-2006, 10:27 AM
oh, thats awesome. so it should make any barrel long enough to fit on the mr2(like the full tilt from JJ)

12-02-2006, 10:34 AM
well a review that i found on their site says that is still about 1/2 an inch in the shroud so most likely they said that you would have to buy an extra extension to use any barrel. thats only if i read the review right.

12-02-2006, 02:03 PM
Hammerhead makes a barrel kit (bore sizing for paintballs...) that is made exclusively FOR the Spyder MR2. Very expensive, but it is a very good set. Just food for thought

12-02-2006, 03:59 PM
give a direct link...i may go check it out.

Problem with the Python Paintball kit, is the inserts are rendered entirely useless if the barrel you currently have is smaller than the inserts you are using. Otherwise, it's a ridiculously ingenious idea, with a very very good price! I would get one myself, but I know that all of my stock barrels are .689, and a lot of my paint is bigger than that.

sp progressive barrels are they good ?
