How do you guys think I can attach a basic two-point sling to a MR?

Thanks,

Victory

I've been wondering the same thing. I'm sure I can ghetto rig something together.

Hopefully someone comes up with better ideas than the ones popping up in my head right now.

go to the firearm/hunting/sporting goods section of Walmart and get sling studs?

I would, but where would the studs go? And I really don't want to drill into the gun, so yeah, I dunno about that..

Yer only real options are...
1. sling studs
2. tie it on

Actually, I'm working on an idea right now. I'll post pictures when I'm done.

I used a ball lock pin with a heavy ring on it. It's primary use is quick take down for the stock but it is perfect for a single point attachment. The stock has a metal plug in it where it attaches to the gun. you could buy a swivel stud and install it in the plug. It would be a simple matter of drilling and tapping. You would want to make sure that the stud is a machine thread and not a wood screw thread. I looked at doing a two point sling set up but with as short as the gun is and the lack of an area to mount the forward swivel I just settled on the single point.

You could either use Frats idea for the back attachment or screw a sling attachment directly into the stock. I have a Mini-14 w/a Zytel stock where the sling attachment point is attached in that manner. Since the front block really has no function, you could drill and tap the front sling attachment into that. Just use some red loctite once you screw it in and don't overtorque it. I would attach both to the sides not the bottom -

i have a PCS tactical vest, and it has a large metal ring on the shoulder, so i put a big carabeaner (sp?) through the stock of my gun, and clip it to my vest, it works great. Its fast to unclip, and you dont have a huge strap in your way when your playing.

I just made one putting a sling through the handle/rail, we'll see how it goes tomorrow.

It's only for support when the gun is down (relaxed postion)

Real Action Paintball and Trinity Paintball sell front barrel sights with the hole for a strap.

I don't know where you'd attach the other end of the strap. Get a car stock from Trinity and drill a hole in it?

Used it in practice shooting w/ my gun today, it worked very well, great support and doesn't hinder shouldering the gun.

MAN this gun is accurate!

I personally prefer a quick-disconnect 1-point sling like the Wolf or RAP, which can be used in pairs to make a 2-point if you have D-rings on each shoulder of your vest/LBE.

If you don't wear a vest and want a true 2-point tactical sling, you can use the open-frame stock of the MR2 for a tie-on and mount the sling up front with a barrel-clamping accessory, like these by RAP (the second of which would then require a widely available Picatinny sling mount)...

Hey Fede, what barrel is that on yours and what length? Does it have good range and accuracy cause thats the attributes im looking for. I did alot of research and all of them say to get the BT APEX barrel so i did. I havent tried it out yet but my opinion at first is it looks ugly as hell on my MR2!

Jt makes a 3 point sling that you can wrap/attach to the stock stock and the other end just loops over the barrel. Works great and its only $20 can.

I also milled down a rear plug for mine when i'm using it stripped down. I drilled it for a rear sling mount, just have to make/get a sling for it now....

The Jt 3 point also works with the app hitman stock and the bt16 combat barrel, both have the proper mounts. The bt47 barrel also has a sling mount.

Cheers everyone, and happy hunting!

You probably shouldve gotten the BT M16 APEX barrel instead. I am. It might look a little bit more milsim.

If you guys are looking for a 1-pt sling then the Emdom URS sling (http://stores.skipjack.com/emdomusa/Detail.bok?no=37) might interest you.

More photos and instruction manual here:
URS sling Manual (http://www.militarymorons.com/weapons/ar.access.html#urs)

Emdom developed the sling with Military Moron (http://www.militarymorons.com/) - if you don't already know who he is. I think the Emdom sling is a superb, low cost sling that works. It doesn't need any attachments, its 15 bucks and all you need is a D-Ring loop on your vest/chest rig and you're set to go. It works on the M4 telescopic stock and I'm very sure it works on the original MR1/MR2 stock - without any need for sling mounts (works with sling mounts too!)

If you're looking for something fancier - the ASP-V sling (http://www.gearsector.com/?page=shop/browse&category=slings_singlepointslings-rigmount) from Gear Sector works too.

Same idea, different execution - you can find the review of that sling on MM's site further down.

I'm trying to make one for myself - but so far 1" wide cordura straps are hard to find - and especially in the right color (got a RED pair shipped to me). I might just end up ordering from Emdom.

I just bought a M16 sling on Base it fits the buttstock nice but the slack is too long so I might have to cut and re-sew or something.

The Apex does take alot of getting used to, and alot of paint just practacing but once you catch onto it it is very effective. I dont really use the curve shot effects that much but i do really like the range. I think its a great barrel, but I do agree its a bit dishearting at first until you practice with about 4000 rounds.

But I guess I steered this a way off topic.

I just made my own sling this morning took like 30 mts cuz i was doing it from a tutorial kinda....but i ended up making one...that you wrap it around your shoulder...than it has to points of attactment...so one goes to the buttstock and the other one to the shroud kinda....dettach them both and your gun is free. put them both back on and run to your re-insertion point...pretty good-strong-short when your not using it so ur gun is close to ur body and when walking or running you dont hit ur gun with ur legs- annd when u r not using it - ur gun is just completely off your body just attached to ur remote coil...

MSG ME IF YOU WANT SOME PICS FOR THAT....IT'S SUPER EASY AND WORK PERFECTLY!! AND SUPER CHEAP!!!
