View Full Version : Got my first Spyder, what whould I upgrade...and what with?

Alright, I HAD a spyder clone (Avalon GT commando 2) as a first gun when I was in 7th grade, and I thoght it looked cool...but my god, it sucked HORRIBLY! I just now got a REAL spyder (older and wiser now, eh?) Imagine. I already have a nice 22" sniper barrel I like a lot, but I figured I might spend 50-75 bucks on a few performance upgrades before my first event with it in late may. I was looking at a new bolt (maybe shocktech fluch cocking supafly (http://www.anythingxtreme.com/Shocktech-Spyder-Flush-Cocking-Supa-Fly-Bolts-P3402C1615.aspx)) and maybe an expansion chamber (32* 6-stage (http://www.anythingxtreme.com/32-Degrees-2k3-6-Stage-Paintball-Gun-Expansion-Chambers-P3231C1401.aspx)). What are your (greatly esteemed) opinions, ratings / 10, and other comments?

What barrel is that? I'd suggest getting a shorter barrel, because somthing that long doesn't really help you, and onyl acctually wastes gas.

Check out www.ottersccustoms.com if you don't already know it. the ultimate spyder site.

Ditch the 22", get something 12"-14", I suggest a J&J or a SmartParts. Expansion chambers are crap, get a regulator (CO2 go with a Bob Long Torp, for HPA or N2 go with a CP Regulator). Get a new feed neck, clamping. Those stupid plastic ones suck. Since you only have a limited amount you want to spend, start with a new barrel, 22" is too long, even for woods. You can get a 14" SP Progressive in black, silver, red, or blue for about $40, or a Linear for about $35. That leaves enough room for a feedneck, I'd get a CCM Heli-Clamp (tabs, ears, no holes, all 3 mean the same thing) for about $30, or a Trinity T-Lock for the same price. The reg can wait.

no i wouldnt get the empire twister barrel. i would get a smart parts progressive or if u have the money get the empire 7 piece barrel kit.

what size progressive would be good for woods ball and speed ball
and how much is the 7 piece empire barrel kit

i'd say get a smartparts teardrop, J&J Ceramic, or a CP 1 piece for the barrel ... 22" is just crap, Manuvering is a *****.

Second would be an electro hopper ... Get an eggy great for price. You can buy these used for a great price, and in great condition also

Third would be a clamping feedneck, either CCM or NDZ

Fourth would be HPA

THEN !!! if you wanted to go LP there's a whole new list

Note on the teardrop: the 06 progressive is better than the teardrop.

Note on the teardrop: the 06 progressive is better than the teardrop.

note on that: there is no 06 teardrop, the teardrop was combined with last year's boss progressive to make the 06 progressive, which has teardrop porting. the new cheapo this year is the linear, which looks pretty nice.

the custom products one piece i think is really good but i have only used 32* whisper, empire twister, stock xtra, and stock silver bullet barrels. i would also stick with 12-14 inch barrels even for woods ball; anything bigger is just a waste.

i have shot an 06 progressive, cp classic, an ultralite on somebody elses gun, and a freak junior. i liked the ultralight best, but would have look funky on my imagine (it was blue), the jr was pretty good, and the cp and the progressive broke about even but the cp was better. no breaks in any of them, but that ul was ball on ball, shooting ropes kinda sweetness.

how much faster will an imagine shoot with a acs bolt on like 3 shot and fully auto

06-07-2006, 04:45 PM
That all depends on what Loader you have..

06-07-2006, 06:06 PM
well as off rite now i got a stock one witch one would u say i dhould get that doesnt cos t all that much

get a vl evolution with the z-board, they go cheap and are pretty good. you kay find one in the sales, called an eggy

Meh, Evil Driver 14" is perfect for long-range accurate shooting. Anyone who has owned EVIL knows their quality is unmatched, the next inline is the J J Performance Barrel, this is SELF-Cleaning because it is teflon coated if a ball break's in the barrel, just shoot again and all the mess is gone. I still perfer the Evil Driver more. Oh yeah, bolts don't allow the gun to shoot FASTER, the Imagine is capped at MAX 16 bps, you can however, install a T-Board and make it shoot up to 36 bps, that is speed up there in the 06 Angel range
