Hmmmmm. Sounds to me like the big shots in the pro divisions are getting mad because there's someone even bigger than them out there. I'm sorry, but the pros (in general - not all are bad, obviously) that they mentioned have done NOTHING positive to promote the sport. They cheat, they have bad attitudes, etc. and we're seeing a whole generation of new paintballers watching them and emulating their exact actions.
Now, I understand about being upset that they're losing money. That's important. However, they're focusing their anger at the industry scapegoat, yes, I said scapegoat, Smart Parts. Since when has Smart Parts done anything but try to make money? They've never admitted to anything but that. Every other company in the world does the same thing. Nike, Coca Cola, Pepsi, Nascar, Exxon....you name it, they do whatever they can to make money, and they've all done so at the expense if other companys. Yet because this is paintball, they should be held at some higher standard?
God, get over it! They're out to make money, plain and simple. I say more power to them. By the way, I'm not a Smart Parts fanboy, but I like their stuff. They make good equipment and guns, and that's all I care about. When their stuff starts turning to crap, then I'll move to another company.

...paintball needs to make it mainstream... Yeah, TV's nice, but the real money is in making it a spectator sport... They need to bring it into commercial arenas and charge admission and sorts... Get some big money endorsements... But yeah...

well, I for one think that SP is going to find any way they can to muscle their way into making money. First it was products, then it was law suits and now it's conglomerate-izing the airwaves. They want it all...and they'll go through any lengths they can to get it. I wouldn't have signed the deal either. What...I should retire my badge and play for no money? I don't think so...I don't care if I like their products or not...
The part that really bugs me is they want to comercialize it just like foorball, hockey, baseball, w/e....more than it already is. Been to an NFL game lately? what did it cost ya total?
This is what's nice about woodsball and scenarios. No politics, no commercialism, no ill feelings outside losing a game or a broken marker. It's better to play the sport without CEO's/sponsors/camera crews and directors telling you what to do. Some of us have wives for that...
This is why it'll never die (woodsball)...it's still FUN...and more 'honest' players are involved in the brush...
