So i ordered my spyder pilot from a local store, and it looked great when i opened it, then i took my first shot.... damn!... it was ridiculously loud. I was using a 20 oz tank and everything else on the gun was stock. Now i was pretty bummed because our house is a bit isolated, so i would be able to shoot it there if it was quieter... and plus it cant help for your gun to be loud when your playing a game... and plus im pretty amateur at the game

Anyways, you guys know if i can do anything whatsoever to make my gun less quieter? A new barrell, a supprssor? Pleasse tell me

Get a new barrel - one with a lot of porting on it. Suppressor - meh. Barrel - yeh!

Progressives are good, especailly the new one, but if your realy looking for quiet, you might go with somthing like the 32* whisper or the 32* quiet riot barrel, both are true to their name, and will noticeably lower the noise.

Mind you, if you were shooting without paint, it'd be significantly louder than usual.

rather than progressive .. go for the teardrop .. same price, but the teardrop has a bit better porting ...

Stiffi barrels claim to be quiet also... I don't have one myself so I can not tell you for sure. Someone here can you verify the quietness of the stiffi barrel.

They are not cheap though, but you did not mention how much you want to spend on making your gun quieter.

barrel wont do much, get a regulator.

They do somthing, but lowering input pressure would do alot more, but you need to go LP there, I think his best best would be either the quiet riot or the whisper, quieter than the SP barrels. I doubt he wants to spend 100+ on a stiffi.

hmm thats interesting. i dont want to spend that much money on a barrel because i am just beginning. i got a ricochet ak off a friend for 15 bucks, which was a good deal that i probaly wont get on a barrel. So i really dont want to be spending over 50 bucks on a barrel. It's to bad suppressors are illegal

how much does it cost to go to LP, isnt it really expensive?

let's not get into a debate about them...K?....k....

Kid...look at Otter's site and go LP. That will quiet the marker alot and like Vike said...a highly ported barrel for it's stock condition. A "Whisper" barrel or "Quiet Riot" will be good choices until (if) you go LP.

EDIT.....try out THIS BARREL (http://www.endgameinc.com/Paintball-Products/Compression-Barrels.asp)

depends how far you want to go and how mechanically inclinded you are. meaning if you can drill out your valve,V/A,grind down the valve pin, polish bolt/striker, etc you can save cash. and put it towards a better reg or something like that.

Hah .. yeah i mean that one :) ...

As for going LP ... the pilot has that weird VA now .... so your gonna need to get a new VA and Reg to actually go LP ... probably assault block and torp

Ahh.. I was wondering if anyone else with a pilot had/has the same sound problem as me ?

... stock spyder's are ... initially "loud" ... and paintball guns are loud anyways .... i don't really think that there's much of a problem ...

you should hear stock tippmanns ... you can actually hear the co2 rumbling and pinpoint how much co2 is actually left in the bottle ;)

The only way to lower the sound really ... is to go low pressure ... if you go LP ... your using less PSI .. and it gets not as loud ... My friends for some reason are deaf and can't hear my gun from 80 feet away .... they'll be like ... "???" ... damn tippmann users ;)

I bought a J&J S2 ceramic and it quieted it down a lot, plus the accuracy over stock is phenomenal.
