View Full Version : SP Progressive Pol/Black looks Purple, will all barrels not match Kingman Black?

I just purchased a SP Progressive 06 Polished Black and it looks purple. My Sonix is black and it does not match the gun at all. Is this the case with all barrels, or just this particular one? If you have a barrel that matches your black pretty good, what is it? Thanks.

In particular, I was also interested in the Teardrop (although I'm assuming all SP black will be the same) and Custom Products. Thanks again.

I just looked at the new SP barrels yesterday at my local shop. I was interested in getting the Progressive, so I took it out of the packaging and it looked black to me. But then again I never put it up to black gun. My son has the Teardrop and that is definitely black, and the 06 Progressive looked he same to me, they had them both in the case.

The Teardrop has been dropped for 06', but I'm sure you can find one somewhere. I don't like it as much as my J&J, but the flat black finish in the J&J looks down right ugly on my pilot.

How about a short review on the barrel after you've used it a few times.

The progressive I had looked really dark purpleish.

Well, my teardrop that was supposed to black has almost red color to it, doesn't match a black gun well at all.

My little brother bought a Blue SP Teardrop and He has a Blue Kingman TL-X, and his matches fine, I don't know about the black though....

Anyone have a black Spyder with an aftermarket barrel that matches it real well? Thanks for all the replies.

The JJ ceramic I had on my E-99 avant matched real well to the black. It was a flat black gun with the flat black ceramic, I dont know if yours is matte or not, but thats what I had.

The 32* barrels are truly black, not matte though.

Well I just got out and shot it (Progressive 06) for the first time, but it appears as if there are scratches on the inside of the barrel. The barrel is pretty accurate, but I think I lost a ton of velocity going from 9" to 14". Is this common, and are the scratches affecting the barrel's performance? Thanks.

Er there should DEFINETLY not be scratches on the barrel, if you got it locally bring it back to them, and see if they'll give you a new one, because scratches should not be there and will significanly hinder performance.
