Painted Tanks???

Can anyone tell me if it is ok to media blast or sand a co2 tank so I can custom paint it, or will the sanding weaken the metal of the tank?

why would you even want to?......no, it'll weaken it

plus if you cover the numbers on the top up, fields and stores shouldn't fill it.

I'm not worried about the filling part because I do all my own and from the metal workers I talked to, they said if you use a plastic media it will be safe. I just thought that a custom tank to match my gun would look nice.

Think you'd be better off just scuffing up the surface, using primer then paint it the color that you want. Some tanks have anodizing and some just have paint on them. Anodizing is an electrostatically bonded hardened coating applied to the surface. Hopefully you already know what a painted surface is. If not then don't mess with your tank at all lol -

Yea I know what it is lol. I have been thinking that maybe scuffing the surface would be the better bet. I'm not sure if I'm going to make the tank match the gun or not, but I have some other ideas for designs as well. Thanks for the advice.

Anodized tanks look sweet... I've got a 3.5oz CO2 tank match ano'd to my Phantom... Looks amazing... I'll try to find a pic...

I was really bored one day and decided to to try an paint one of co2 tanks. It was a really old one. I sanded off the old sticker and the rust that was there and sprayed it with silver rustolem. It looks good and it didn't weaken the metal. Just tape off the valve and everything you don't want painted. I just put a light coat on it, not thick or it will fill in the numbers on the tank.
