Been looking at alot of guns to upgrade from my 2005 xtra. One of the ones i am really liking is the smart parts ion series what is everyones feeling on this gun anyone shot it? Looking for something slightly smaller than my extra, shoots 10 times quieter, and slight more accurate. ( keep in mind my xtra is severely modded )

oh geez, you will find a couple people on here who love them and mostly you find a lot of people who hate them. To make them nice you may need to put a lot of money into it but if you do some good searching and sell replaced parts it wont cost as much. I'd avoid smart parts because they have gone out of business. I'm not sure how much you want to spend on a new gun, but it's hard finding something in the $200 range, it seems like if you dont want a spyder or something similar you're going to have to spend $300, unless you buy used, then you have a lot more options

I hadnt heard that SP closed whats the deal with that? Is there anything that competes with the ions that kingman or someone else makes affordable and quiet? ( have only owned 1 tippman 98 and 2 2005 spyder xtras )

Look for a used Dye DM6, you can grab one for around 225 pretty easy or if your looking for something cheaper go with the PM6. Either way its a huge step up from the ion. Shoots about the same as a DM10.

The DM6 is pretty legit. Also used Timmys are very nice, smooth and cheap. I've only had one DM and the UL frame was extremely comfy but I love Timmys. Try shoot a few guns and see what you think. 05 Egos aren't bad guns either.

So Smart parts is officially closed? Ill check into the DM 6 Dye seemed to be expensive but 225 isnt bad. Im looking to stay under 300 get a whisper quit gun with barrel kit, upgraded eyes, board possibly, and a good electronic durable trigger im hard on my guns.

a DM will be a huge step up from a spyder even without all of the upgrades

So long as you learn from the Sticky's on PBN and know how to properly clean the DM6, it will be all those things for you.... stock.

I talked to a guy at the local shop yesterday he had a dye pm6 and said there was really no difference between the dm6, that he liked the pm better he also had a pm 7 what are the differences? and is 250 a good price on a pm 6 used?
he also had a few ions there at 150 with virture boards and one with a freak barrel kit for 180? any thoughts

DM6 is nicer than the pm6. the DM has the UltraLite frame and is smaller, the PM has plastic of rubber eye cover. that's not a bad deal on ions, especially for being at a shop, but theyre still ions

No, and no, he's a moron. The DM6 is more solidly built and has the UL frame. The PM7 is slightly better than the PM6, but only slightly so. You can get a DM6 for $275 or below.

Ive read alot of reviews about the dm6 having major o ring problems and breaking balls what with that?

xsvly-fat
10-08-2010, 10:40 AM
I've had a PMR, SLG, and a DMC and none of them had o ring problems, as long as you clean it after you use it you should be fine; I don't recall breaking a ball, maybe with the SLG but that's a cheap gun.

Simple answer... dumb owners. Take care of your equipment, and it will take care of you. The same is true for anything you apply it to.

:lolsign: Ginger is right. If you maintain it correctly it will reward you with more time on the field. Thats why I open my guns more than anyone at the field & why they always work.... unless I screw around with stuff.

list price does not equal actual value. Lowball with a reasonable amount and they will take it almost everytime, if not move on to the next guy.

What if i can get the dye pm7 for 140 bucks? is it worth it over a dm6?

xsvly-fat
10-09-2010, 04:07 PM
Is it UL'd?

vikingshadow
10-09-2010, 04:43 PM
UL frame is TOTALLY worth the extra bucks on ANY gun. Seriously. It's the best frame I've ever held and comes nearly perfect stock, IMHO.

If I had the choice between a PM6 or a DM6, I'd go for the DM. However, you won't be disappointed with the PM either, especially if it comes with the UL frame.

xsvly-fat
10-09-2010, 08:27 PM
That's why I was wondering. A PM7 for $140 probably wouldn't have a UL frame but it still isn't a bad deal. I would get a UL frame for it right away though. Like Vike said they are probably one of the most comfortable frames you can get.

PMR's aint bad either........... Mine's never done me wrong. DM6 is probably better though.

I know I was totally satisfied with my PMR. Still have it actually. If I still played and had access to air, I'd probably still be using it. Havent really looked at it in a couple years though.

xsvly-fat
10-10-2010, 03:20 PM
My PMR shot pretty smooth and I didn't even have a UL frame on it. It wasn't a bad gun for the price.

How do i tell if it a UL frame just in case the guy tries to lie to me? Only owned and still own 2 spyder 2005 xtras. Im offering 200 shipped to me for the PM7 the electric hopper goggles squeegee condom and he said 66 air tank i think he meant 65. I think thats a steal

Its def not a UL from the pics of his gun ive seen but coming from a spyder xtra 2005 a none UL pm7 is light years better correct.

xsvly-fat
10-10-2010, 06:49 PM
It'll be alot nicer then a Spyder xtra. I still highly suggest you get a UL frame for it.

It would be 360 tank hopper mask gun shipped barrel kit sound good?

what kind of hopper mask and tank?

xsvly-fat
10-11-2010, 10:27 AM
And barrel kit?

2005modxtra
10-11-2010, 11:25 AM
its a v force big eye mask UL hopper 66 ci tank is all i know and a jj 16 inch barrel kit prolly just a barrel

2005modxtra
10-11-2010, 11:37 AM
i bought the gun for 234 dollars shipped but he wants like 360 for everythign shipped i can get better goggles better air tank and better hopped for less than 130 cant i?

2005modxtra
10-11-2010, 01:38 PM
Well the mask is name brand v force, the hopper is name brand Pulse and when i purchased it, it was one of the fastest loaders around together purchased new your looking at about 300. If u plan to use a reg hopper ur gonna break balls all the time. Gravity is just too slow. The air tank is 66cc tank which looks practically brand new. You got the gun alone for 212 plus 20 for shipping so 232 and the air tank cost used at least 50. I'm telling you this is the bet deal ur gonna get. What's ur email bc I'm gonna send you picks of the products individually. I just can't sell the rest for less including shipping

So it comes with a UL frame? If so it's a pretty good deal. If not it isn't that bad of a deal. Pulses are very nice hoppers and if its the V Force mask I'm thinking of it's a pretty good mask.

2005modxtra
10-11-2010, 04:32 PM
the mask pic he sent me kinda looked like crap and the tank was out of hydro date and he wanted 50 for it so im trying to get the pulse hopper and gun for 280 shipped

xsvly-fat
10-11-2010, 08:11 PM
Do you already have a tank? I think some website was doing $25 hydro.

Muddytaco
10-11-2010, 08:27 PM
skip the pulse, they got sued for RF patient stuff and its impossible to get parts if something would break.

If your really looking to buy wait a day or two I will find you something worth buying at a reasonable price on pbn.

Thanks taco but already bought the PM7 its immaculate has box paper work all that stuff seen alot of pics of it and he had box and paper work for hopper and got it but i bought 2 ninja tanks 48ci 3000 psi off ebay for 80 bucks brand new those good for the gun? also wanted the 2nd one to use on my rockin trigger spyder its inconsistent even with reg and volumizer. Might be in the market for a virtue board and eyes for the pm7 after i replace the money i spent on the gun. Looking for a new mask now.

xsvly-fat
10-12-2010, 11:12 AM
Skip the Virtue board and get a UL frame. It is so much more comfortable then the stock frame.

2005modxtra
10-12-2010, 11:52 AM
will the 45 ci 3000 psi tank be enough for this gun? and i tried googling a ul frame where do i find it?

TheDarkShadow
10-12-2010, 12:41 PM
3000ci tanks are heavy and you dont get as many shots as a 4500ci but theyre cheaper. you might get roughly 500 shots out of each fill.

vikingshadow
10-12-2010, 04:00 PM
3000 psi tanks don't weigh anymore than 4500 psi tanks, and that's not much if they're carbon fiber. You're gonna get fewer shots, but it will work. You only want to use HPA for the PM7. Also, if you go for the UL frame, then you wont need the Virtue board. I love Virtue boards - used them all the time when I was playing, but it's not necessary with the frame.

xsvly-fat
10-12-2010, 05:49 PM
If you use a 45/3000 tank be sure to always check your air after a game. And you can find UL frames on PbNation.com or your local store will have them or just about any paintball website will have them.

Don't buy a UL frame new unless you can't avoid it. They're asininely expensive brand new. Hell, they're ape**** expensive used.

xsvly-fat
10-13-2010, 02:43 PM
What are they used? $100-$150?

2005modxtra
10-13-2010, 06:02 PM
cheapest ive seen so far is 185 which is almost as much as the gun cost me lol

Muddytaco
10-13-2010, 07:11 PM
Just keep an eye out for them, I got the DM5 one for my viking BNIB for $105 shipped.

Another way to go would be buy a broken gun that is already UL'd, then either swap frames, fix and sell or take UL frame and part out rest of gun.

xsvly-fat
10-13-2010, 08:35 PM
That's what I was thinking. It would probably be cheaper to buy a broken gun or something like that and take the UL frame off of it. They're worth it though, they're one of the best frames out there.

sounds like somthing ill do once i recover from the money i just spent. Maybe have the wife get one for christmas for me =). But i think i did alright i got the pm7 that looks immaculante in pics and the pulse hopper 2 ninja 48ci 3000psi tanks for 350. Im going to buy a new mask before i upgrade my gun anymore unless a frame just comes up that i cant pass on. So on the dye guns what do you guys know that needs to be watch besides basic lubing and cleaning?

DON'T BUY ANYTHING FOR YOUR PM7.

First go use it and determine what if anything you may want. You may love the stock frame, and the stock board. Remember you are coming from an Extra so it will be night and day different for you. If you love it the way it is, you can use your hard earned money on paint and field fees :)
