So I started having trouble breathing yesterday morning, little bit of chest pain, lots of chest pressure. I knew what it was, but was hoping I wasn't right and it would go away. I went and installed a ceiling fan and some window covers for a friend. Got home still was having trouble, so I did a breathing treatment, which didn't help. So I went to the urgent care for a chest xray, I didn't want to go to the hospital because my doctor likes to admit me whenever he gets me there. My intuition was right, left side pneumothorax (collapsed lung). So, went to the ER, where they immediately placed a chest tube, not fun a all. So of course they admitted me, however they put me on a deloted drip, so I've been buzzing all day.

So the hole in my lung that caused the collapse still hasn't healed, so they are gonna do surgery to repair it. Going to the OR in a few minutes here, I'll let you guys know how things go when I come out of anesthesia.

Did she mess something up, or are you just ornery? What happened?

Last night they decided I needed to walk around the floor. It took 3 nurses to carry all the stuff that is connected to me. My the time I got back I was in so much pain. I have a PCA (Patient Controlled Anesthesia) and I couldn't hit it enough to catch up with the pain and couldn't get comfortable. I think I finally fell asleep around 3:30am and was woken up at 5:00am. I can't even remember why I yelled at the nurse this morning.

Snort the first one then pop the rest, does the trick every time!

Knowing you, you'll make a fast recovery! Nothing can keep you down. :D :P

Two and a half hours of what I assume to be light sleep will do that. Trust me, if anyone understands the pain you're in, its them. Just concentrate on getting better, mate. Apologies for inconsequential stuff like that can be made later.

Patient controlled medication devices are limited, therefore, they suck. well they prevent you from ODing, which is a good thing.

So it looks like the chest tubes are coming out tomorrow. The surgeon came in today, looked at everything and said that we should be good to remove them. Hopefully I'll get to go home Tuesday or Wednesday.

Chest tube removal was postponed until tomorrow. They took the tube off suction today, suction helps keep air out of the plural space where it doesn't belong. They took me off suction to make sure that the lung stays inflated on its own. So now it looks like, chest tube removal tomorrow morning, as long as everything looks good on the xray tomorrow. Then I'll get to go home on Wednesday.

Cute female nurses, HAHAHA!

Tubes are not coming out today. When they come in this morning to check everything there was a leak. They clamped everything off and did another xray a couple hours later and there was air built up at the apex of my left lung. They said we will try the process again tomorrow.

Well, this morning my chest xray looked good and there was no leak, so my doctor seized the moment and yanked my chest tubes out.
