View Full Version : Is this just a problem on my gun or are others having the same trouble?

The screws on my gun are falling out one by one due to the threads on the inside wearing off. I had the first screw fall off the very first day I used it. Since then I've had two more fall out and have had to use electrical tape to hold the gun together. I'm gonna send it in once my vs2 gets here, but I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

Are you sure the threads are getting worn off? They could just be coming loose, as they probably weren't very tight when the gun was new.

check if theres any metal shavings falling out or threads missing, to make sure they are not stripped...let us know

I have had the screws come loose that hold my trigger frame to the gun before. I tighten them down at the beginning and towards the end of a day playing the frame is very wobbly, and the screws are barely in.

Use teflon tape on the screws when you get the gun back in. It sounds like a typical Spyder, prolly a little wobble in the threads that's covered by warranty, and should just be fixed from the beginning with Teflon Tape. 4 rolls run about a buck at Home Despot.

Ya it is stripped cause now when I go to tighten it, it just spins around.

What bigred said, also, what I did for my spyders is buy some lock heads, or whatever they're called. They go on the screw and REALLY help hold it in, best $1.00 upgrade for my spyders I've ever gotten. :P

Also, if you haven't already, make sure no washers or anything like that are missing.

everything at napa is xpensive! if the thread is stripd try getting a slightly thicker screw to compensate for the bigger hole.

I had the same problem. Actually removing the spacing washer and so the screw doesn't go too deep you file down the tapered end of the stock screw you should have enough of the original threading to hold it may be all you need to do.

I recommend teflon tape or blue lock-tite and DON'T OVER TIGHTEN them next time...

if you have stripped the entire tapped hole try upping to a SAE screw ... i think the stock screws are M3s... ask at a hardware store for machine screws but not the self tapping kind and bring the old screw with you to be sure...

failing that, you may be able to get the hole re-tapped in your area...
