My Spyder Shutter Project (Now LP!)

Been working on my shutter over the past couple years (upgrading and such), and just recently the stock regulator kicked out, so I went and got a whole new bottom line and regulator. Anyhow its a CP, and at the shop the dude turned it all the way up to the 500 that it goes, just to make the gun recock correctly. So I get home, pull out my spring kit (32 degree's) and changed around the valve spring to the strongest, lowered the pressure to 250 and shot a pod full (140) and had no recock or stutter issues, at 250psi on a shutter... Now I havn't tried just yet (but will another day) and see if it "can" go lower and by how much, not to mention get it chrono'd.

Thought I would share my spec's and how its all turned out and how I got an older spyder down to 250psi (and im not even done testing).

Valve: NDZ High Performance
Bolt: Spyder ACS (Kingman one)
Striker: NDZ Derlin Striker
Board: T-Board VerC (no eyes)
Trigger: Critical Trigger w/ light lever microswitch (love this combo easy to rock)
Regulator: CP (Long style) 0-500psi
ASA: CP On/Off (rail mounted)
Drop: CP Flame (Spyder version)
Rail: CP
Barrel: 14" 2 Piece CP

I got a deal on a freak barrel (no inserts) so that will be here soon (Black back Purple Front) then I will buy some inserts for it.

Would love some discussion from some "spyder fans" I know a few exist out there, and I would like to talk to some who have done LP projects, and would love to find all the best of each category (even if it means having to replace some internals). I am amazed I was able to get the gun down to 250 and shoot correctly (no leak when not cocked but aired) and all.

Very nice. Been awhile since an LP Spyder project has shown up. Only thing I would suggest is re anno the purple and either chrome the matte parts or somehow make the CP reg matte finish and it will look very nice.

And, I was a fan of drop forwards back in the day but now its been proven that you get better form from just a rail and on/off mounted right to the trigger frame. I now think its more comfortable too.

I believe I got my old image down to around 300 psi. I remember being so excited at how much the kick decreased and how the efficiency improved. Great job and I do agree with Hoppy that a new anno job would just send it through the roof. Nice Job.

like hopps said, get everything nickel/chrome anno'd matte silver, and try to get the frame powdercoated to match.

oh, and you dont have to screw the gauge all the way in. you can screw it in until it looks straight, and the teflon/loctite will keep it from leaking.

personally im tall (6' 4") and the drop helps me actually.

I have to chrono it still, so the 250 is recock ready but havn't tested speeds.

I <3 the purple though, as its different, and not femanine imo (like pink). I also have some Purple Macroline (2x 1ft) coming in the mail. (along with a purple 90* swivel fitting).

As far as the gauge the local shop who i bought the parts from for the bottom line/reg tightened it. I plan on buying a CP 0-600 anyway, since mines like 0-1500 or something too high (harder to tell what im running at that way).

Eventually I hope to find a trustworthy and good anno place, and get it fully redone with silver/purple (more purple parts) and such. That way the whole thing would look great. But as this stuff just got changed its still all new, and the shop only had nickel or black in the reg, so i went with the nickel for now.

This was my first LP project from a long time ago... had a ND high flow valve, AIM shock reg, 14'' cmi barrel, half-backed job(also accepted timmy top-cocking bolts), polished stock bolt with the star removed in the middle, spring kit, aftermarket ASA, T-board with EYES. it was shooting way under 250 psi

I just ordered a maddman rocket valve, as that's what I hear is way better then the NDZ valve...

I also hope to find a cheap body with straight feedneck (aka Xtra) in black so I can get away from this angled thing...

Imma keep my eye on ebay for spyder bodys.

Also ordered a 0-600 gauge, that way ill have a bit more accurate readout (and still the range of my reg 0-500 covered)

I am also looking for tips as to getting it up to speed and yet lowest psi, i know its a tinkering type of game, but any tips are appreciated.

as I have found an 04 imagine body that is in nice condition and has a good feed neck, I will be thinking about implementing Eyes.

If anyone has a link to a guide for doing eye's on a spyder, would be helpfull, so I can see what its gonna take to do it.
