Some of you know that I am an architecture major and am in my third year now. Yesterday was my final design review so I am basically done besides a few drawings I have to finish up for my Building Systems class and one final.

Anyway our project this semester was to design a multi family housing complex and re-design a run down manufacturing area as a public green way. Our site was in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Anyway here are some pictures of my floor plans and renderings.

That was all Revit Architecture 2008.

The site plan was rendered in Photoshop CS3

Look closer my friend hahaha. There are toilets. I would have gotten torn apart if I didn't have any.

nice. took a semester of shop in HS and we did some autocad. i can do it, but i dont have the patience to do anything THAT detailed.

as for the building, it looks very retro european. reminds me of the apartment complexes in germany.

Maybe there's something I'm missing, but I see a lot of kitchens.

chris, they're single story apartments... ergo, each apt. on each floor has one of everything.

If I was going to critique anything, it would be that big a** wall facing the road. Have a plan in place to say what your goal with it is. Local artists, climbing flowers, dramatic lighting. Something.

I agree. It was the one down fall of the design. On those windows I proposed to use a wood siding screen which I have detailed out in elevation. I just couldn't figure out how to do it in revit. But it is still quite plain. The ground floor is inset about 8' and they have their own individual patios with columns that give the feeling of a front porch. Across the street is all residential so I was trying to give the building more of a residential feel.

These are the elevations with with the wood shading I was talking about.

Very impressive

It's quite a bit less formal, but have you used SketchUp at all?

Thank you, and yes I have. I use SketchUp to do all of my mass modeling now instead of doing it by hand. I can crank out 2-4 mass models in the time it would take me to do one physical model by hand. Its a good program if you know how to use it correctly and if the less formal look is your thing. I feel that for a final presentation it is too informal and sketchy looking.

That is very impressive. She is even using her laptop.

Hahahahaha I was wondering if anyone was going to notice that. Luckily I did notice it before I put it in the presentation so I covered that corner of the picture with another rendering.

lol, looks good hoppy! I used autocad in HS as well and rendered a 2 story floor plan but that's definitely a step up, good job!

You should have rendered the girl like wonder woman and waited to see if anyone picked up on it. No rules saying you can't have a little fun with them, lol

Agreed completely

I use it pretty frequently but mostly just for random personal creations.
