View Full Version : DP Threshold

09-22-2008, 03:03 PM
Currently im shooting a Dangerous Power Fusion. It is nice but i have wanted a single tube marker for a long time, and i think i am finally going to get one. I am speaking of the DP Threshold. It was a limited production run marker that is basically the G3, except more efficient and a bit heavier due to milling.

I am getting a good deal on one but colors are limited. If anyone knows of a single tube in the price range of no more than $450 im open to last minute suggestions.

Now the real question. What color?
Alien green http://www.putfile.com/pic/7512116
Gold with Black http://www.putfile.com/pic/7636367?pos=top
or Black with red (3/4 of the way down this page) http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=1922246&page=9

One concern i have is with the black/red. if i get a black delrin trigger it might make the gun look funny because it will be missing an accent.

The gold black might stick out a bit when i play in the woods...

And the green is just a little odd... leaning towards this one so far.

umm, someone, i think it was cody, got a threshy a while back. check the pics section, i think there was a whole debate over it.

There's the link to that thread. Get a Borg or a Protege instead. ;)

dont have that much cash on hand. need to get a new hopper aswell. im still using my old Eggy II.

cant decide between G3 and threshy...

Threshy is a little heavier but more efficient. it also looks a bit better, and has better colour choices.

The G3 is small and light (1.9 pounds) but less efficient. it only comes in 3 colours... red (nuh uh), blue (maybe), and black/silver (nice but a little boring)

09-22-2008, 07:52 PM
Dude... Don't have that much? Then get an Alias or a nice Shocker SFT and a NOX bolt! Anything but a Threshy!

09-22-2008, 08:12 PM
Yeah get a Timmy, I have an A-Bomb and it is fast, really good on air, doesn't kick at all, and its so quite

And if you have about $450 I'd say a Protege is the perfect choice

For $450 you can basically buy any used '06 and under gun there is, options are almost endless.

If you want a spool get a DM, PM, shocker, etc. all are far better built then the threshold plus they actually use normal size orings unlike the threshold.

I can vouch for that...new pm6 $250 shipped.

You can pick up ul'd pm7 or a dm6 for your budget.

what about a karni? i dont know much about them but they seem to be in the price range...

09-23-2008, 10:37 AM
Eh, used E2'd 'Cocker of any kind is fine. I don't quite like Karni's enough to vote them over an Alias, but E-Cockers are fairly decent as far as performance goes. You need a barrel kit with a 'Cocker, though, otherwise you'll get roll-outs.

09-23-2008, 12:15 PM
whats the general opinion on a pneumag? i was looking at mags and they are a bit out of my price range new once you factor in the pneu-kit, but i could just get the mag now and upgrade a bit later...
on a mech mag i would imagine it impossible to get more than 10 bps, but i know pneu mags can get up to 15+. the reliability of a mag is nice to me, im just not sure about other little things, like why is an adjustable tank better for a mag?

09-23-2008, 12:34 PM
i've never owned a mag, but from reputation, its in one of the top spots on my list of guns to get. they're gas hogs though, just ask druid!

09-23-2008, 12:59 PM
They are gas-hogs, but they're amazing. Get a ULT and the trigger pull can be made (on a strictly mechanical marker!) to be about the same as a stock E-Spyder (250g). I really liked the Mag I had, it was awesome! I really need to pick up another one, but I'm afraid that my girlfriend is going to kill me if I get another gun... (I have 14 right now... I think...).

09-23-2008, 01:14 PM
how much do they get off a 68/4500?

09-23-2008, 01:29 PM
i doubt they break 1000 (IIRC). druid has a 114/45 for a reason!

09-23-2008, 01:46 PM
mags will get around 1000 off of 68, not air efficient but are built like a tank, probably the most reliable gun next to cockers. Both can set in bags for years and be ready to play just by adding air and hopper. Also if you buy one with the inteliframe and ULT trigger already installed the pneumag parts will only set you back around $70.

my inability to make decisions amazes me...

i have narrowed the hunt.
dont want: ego, pm, dm, PMR, mini, mag, or thresh.
I am currently shooting an F7 fusion, and am pretty sure i want something different.
so its down to ecockers, shockers, G3, timmie, or protege.
i found a deal on a G3 and a vlocity for $465 shipped to canada, should i snatch it up? or try and find something else?

PS, how much do timmies/proteges weigh? i know alias timmies are pretty darn light...

09-23-2008, 09:39 PM
Protege is 2lbs. '06 Borg is 2lbs. Alias is smidgens more, probably 2.10-2.25lbs depending on the model (PL's and Alias). Ecockers are the heaviest by far... probably 2.5-4lbs. Shockers are 2-3lbs. I don't know for sure what G3's weigh, as I don't care for them, but I'd assume they weigh close to 2lbs. If I were you... I'd look for something inside Canada, though. I'll take a look around Canadian websites and see what I can dig up for you. :)

09-24-2008, 08:26 AM
maybe i want to knock cockers off the list, seems like they are heavier/and more intricate than what im looking for.
maybe i should give more thought to egos.

09-24-2008, 08:28 AM
Eh, Ego's are overpriced, but they are easy to find. Their performance is less than incredible, though, as their '08 model shoots a little worse than my '06 Borg.

09-24-2008, 10:17 AM
nxt $550
protege $ 500
empire or imfamous $425

pricing i found for some brand new guns...
maybe i should up my budget and sell my F7 fusion instead of having a backup...

09-24-2008, 11:32 AM
Empire or Infamous Gen4 Timmy's? You can get Alias's for cheaper, it's only a matter of finding them. I'd keep the Fusion, you never know when you need another gun.... or two.... or three..... :D

09-24-2008, 11:48 AM
a new alias for cheaper? these are NIB prices. i've seen used alias's for cheaper...

although the price on that NXT doesnt look too bad...

09-24-2008, 12:21 PM
New Alias's were $425 last year before Cup (when all prices drop for the new years' model). If you can find one NIB, they should be less now. They also perform and feel better than the Gen4's, IMO. The Gen4's were.... odd.

The NXT's price isn't too bad... but the gun sucks. Too many issues as compared to the SFT for me. An SFT with a NOX bolt, HE can, and CCM/TonTon frame > NXT any day.

09-24-2008, 03:47 PM
You can pick up a Borg for around $400... It won't fail you...

I would stay away from Shockers unless it's a very, very upped one... Otherwise, get ready to dump cash into it. YAY SMARTSHARTS!

I'd say a Borg or Alias. Alias new is like $375 now and a '06 Borg used is $350-420ish.

09-24-2008, 04:43 PM
Oh my! People remember my guns? Haha

Yea I had one. Not too impressed with it.

IMO for the price the best guns out are Alias's and 07 Quest. They are both great for the price. Especially the Quest. They are so cheap. Really look into them.

09-24-2008, 06:44 PM
i cannot find a new alias, used borg, or new quest to save my life...

i think im more interested in the alias or quest, but just because used guns scare me.
but hell im open to anything, and am gonna keep looking.
Stay away from the empire/infamous?

any opinion on SRs? looks a lot like a karny to me

09-25-2008, 02:02 PM
They shoot basically shoot like any other E-Cocker as far as kick and stuff. The main difference is factory halfblock, internal pump arm, lpr, and ram. Also the new frame and board.

I would rather get an older E2 Cocker, and put an MQ Valve in it, then you can upgrade the lpr and ram and bolt with all standard cocker upgrades.

I just found out that i get a discount on guns at the local store because i am a member of the university's PB club. so i called them and he is going to see if he can get any proteges in stock. i dont mind paying $550 for one if i can get it without taxes.
