This time coming from Dayton, OH.

Yesterday we had very high winds with gusts up to about 60mph. Trees down all over campus, most building have shingles ripped off, hole in one of the dorms and over half of campus is without power (including my apartment). All of that and we still have class today. Kinda pissed off about it and no power until MAYBE tomorrow due to Ike.

Pics to come later today.

With all this weather lately, any predictions on what this winter will be like?

One almanac is predicting colder than normal temps with a lot of snow and moisture for the midwests...

Any best?

Winter will be cold, followed by widely scattered warming through spring.

The Durango and Civic got seriously lucky, but what about any cars on the other side of the lot, did the top of the tree get them?

I know. I cant even believe what it would be like anywhere near the coasts. This was plenty enough for me.

The Civic had minor scratches and the Durango will have a couple of dents. Nope the tree missed the other side of the lot by about 2 feet.

If you believe oak trees...very cold and snowy...I'm in MI and the white oak in front of our house has some of the largest acorns I have ever seen...considering I'm a deer hunter and pay attention to those type of things that says alot...my wife brought some in the other day that where in between 1/2" and 5/8" in diameter and over an inch long...they look like porn stars of the acorn world! It's not just a few either...the odd ball acorn on this tree is the average size.

lol!

i feel ya, we were hoping for the power to go out at work, but nothing. although the light by the walmart intersection is still out, and so is the one second closest to my house. worst we had here was a tree that fell on a powerline, but they already fixed that. power was only out for a few hours, and came back on right after i got home. i'm gonna be pissed though when my dad decides its time to do yardwork again and we have to rake up the 5,000 leaves on the ground.

Power is still out and wont be back up till mid weekend. I will end up losing about 3/4ths of my food that I just bought. Only good thing is I still have water pressure and heat for showers.

I lost power for about 36 hours, it was the longest 36 hours of my life.

the winds tore some the shigles off my house, lost some roofing on my barn, my grandma's yard is full of huge limbs that we will have to clean up.

I'm up here on a generator. I heard cinci was total ****, like there was no gas, and people were freaking out. Ice machines were empty and cars got stuck on freeways because they ran out of gas. I heard maintainence trucks drove around with large tanks of gas giving out single gallons of gas so people could get off at the next exit.

BTW, parties are going to suck this weekend. Any word if security out there is increased because of the keycard issue?

claus, they said thats how louisville was. all gas stations except for like 3 lost power, and they were price gouging at almost $5 a gallon because people had no other choice.

Well most buildings are decent now on campus. Unfortunately my apartment is not one of them. I actually got an email about the keycard problems they told us just to keep our doors locked. I doubt they will have more security except in the darkside.

Yea, still it sucks for you guys. We DEFINITELY should have had canceled class on monday, half of my profs. didn't show and the other half hasn't had any material very ready. BTW the recplex smells like ass now that a bunch of unkempt college students are sleeping and working there.

I havnt even been to the Rec since the power went out for that very reason. Ive been hearing that power may be out for the Darkside for at least 1 more week. My teachers were prepared but most are pushing back tests, except for my logic teacher. Thus I have been living in the Library or catching up with email during class (MGT 301 now :D )
