If anyone remembers, I posted a thread about tattoos. Now, with my 18th just alittle over a month away...its crunch time!!lol. I think i have a good idea of what I want, Just thought i would ask you guys what you thought. Seeing as it is permenant and everything.

thats it. And remember..it is JUST a SCRETCH! I am no artist! I would definitly bring this in and have them touch it up...alot. lol. The inside circle is a traditional norse sheild knot and represents protection. The two outside things are triquetras. They represent the holy trinity. Father, son, and holy spirit.

I like the design, and it definitely means something to me becuase of my religion, and my family has strong norweigan ties. What do you guys think?? Anything i can do to improve it?

ninja edit: It would be put on my upper back. forgot that crucial detail. oops.

edit #2:

a friend used PS to make it look good. Im not a fan of the two dots.

Think I'd like it better w/o the squigglies on the sides. I do like the round pattern. It reminds me of an MC Escher drawing. If you don't know who he is look in the picture gallery here http://www.mcescher.com/ Escher is da schizzle -

Depending on where you placed it, it has potential. The design isn't doing it for me though, you have that bold piece (knot) in the middle and then the two things off to the side of it attached to it, they kind of pale in comparison to the centerpiece, but with the right artist and shading it could turn out pretty well. If you don't mind I could redraw it and post here to maybe give you some other ideas for layout or placement to work with...

yeah, i dont mind that. I would love to get more ideas. Again, i am not artistic at all.

I would rather have it be longer than taller.

edit: im kind of a symmetry freak....both sides should be equally balanced, and idealy have the same thing.

yeah, like big daddy said. If you get a good artist let them know what you want and they'll make it for you. Shop around though!!! Don't go to just any shop...Big no-no

Moe...I'm liking the theme (obviously..LOL) but one thing is that the triquetras (also called three-leaved flowers) are broken by the Knot in the center. The entire idea of Knotwork is that it's unbroken...representing fluidity and everlasting...and the three leaved flower represents 'Trinity' so they shouldn't be broken either.
The entire concept is nice but I would try to come up with a different design. Reposition the triquetras so that there are 4 of them...stemming from the lines at the 4 poles, points eminating from those lines. I'll try to post what I mean....

EDIT.......I did it in paint so gimme a break....LOL. I only did one but consider three more around the knot just like the one I did...

yeah, i never really thought of that druid. Maybe if the parts of the triquetras that are under the sheild were a lighter shade...hhmm, might have to draw that up. I pretty much know where I am going. Its called ronin...or ronen...not sure of the spelling, but my brother and some of his friends have gotten tattoos there. Supposed to be a real nice place.

If you want the two triquetras, then I would suggext moving them up and to either side of the center image. That way the can keep thier "infinity" theme druid was touching on earlier.

I would call ahead, some time before your 18th birthday, and setup a consoltation with an artist at the shop you plan on using. If they're a reputable place, thier probably booked up a little on custom work like that. Take the finalized version of your sketch in and turn it over to your artist. They'll customize, make it "tattoo-able" and you can come back in to check that out, then setup the actual tattoo date.

I like all the designs so far. thanks guys!

Druid, i like the idea, but i want it to go more acrost than up and down.

muddytaco, i like that idea. Ill probably bring something like that in, with other designs, when i go for a consultation.

big_daddy- thats kind of what i was thinking. somehow have the leaves go under the sheild
