I'm going to be buying a new marker pretty soon so here is what I'm looking at

Proto PMR

Proto SLG (since it's less than the pmr I have more money for upgrades)
http://www.actionvillage.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/DisplayProductInformation-Start;sid=HY7twjRiJkrsgnwXAXstaj7E1MSt9vd-2jU=?ProductID=oCDAqArbiC4AAAEVFsg9TvJ8

ICD Promaster
http://www.actionvillage.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/DisplayProductInformation-Start;sid=HY7twjRiJkrsgnwXAXstaj7E1MSt9vd-2jU=?ProductID=hefAqArbUyYAAAEYA4cww3Y8

WGP Trilogy SF Competition

Smart Parts Epiphany
http://www.actionvillage.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/DisplayProductInformation-Start;sid=HY7twjRiJkrsgnwXAXstaj7E1MSt9vd-2jU=?ProductID=0gLAqArbbIgAAAETZQhHL_8o

Smart Parts Ion (less than epiphany, so more money for upgrades)
http://www.actionvillage.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/DisplayProductInformation-Start;sid=HY7twjRiJkrsgnwXAXstaj7E1MSt9vd-2jU=?ProductID=P6XAqArbGfgAAAEBJ9hekf3f

I'm open to suggestions but I really don't want another spyder

Id look used. For the amount you spend on those you can buy a older timmy that would be straight vicious or a PM6 or something of the sort-

thats just my opinion.

None of the above. RANT:

PMR: I've had efficiency and leaking issues with PMR's more than any other gun. That gun was on the workbench more than it was the field. Terrible resale.

SLG: It's a sear tripper, I've heard good things but I just wouldn't buy one. It's lacking some key parts and I'd rather have a different gun. TERRIBLE resale.

ICD promaster: It's no longer in production, no support. Don't bother. Some fanboy will be upset, but it's a dead gun don't buy it unless you get an absolutely awesome deal.

WGP trilogy: Someone else will be upset by this comment, but is there really even a point to shooting a semi autococker any more? Pump cockers are the only ones worth while, the trilogy is pretty bad for a semi cocker to begin with.

Epiphany: Expensive Ion, see ion.

Ion: Poorly executed, good design. I'd never buy a stock ion. I'd only accept one if I created it myself, those usually run up to about 300-400 before they become worthwhile, you might as well look at MY recomended guns.

I'd recommend:(for a gun ONLY, this excludes getting a nitro tank etc)

0-100 range: rent/borrow
100-200: SLG, but I'd save up for g3
200-300: SLG + Ups, but I'd save up for g3
300-400: PMR, and some money for the field tech, Save up a bit more
400-500: DEFINATELY THE Dangerous power G3. Save up for this gun. It rips face
500-600: Protege. enough said, this gun rips.
600-700: protege + board
700-800: Vice
800-900: Vice + strippers
900-1000: Vice + more strippers
1000-1500: whatever. It really won't matter now.

Used Timmy, or the PMR I liked my PMR but it was not that efficiencent and I like the my A-Bomb better so I would have to say a used Timmy

i voted based on the actual markers and not others.
I voted for the PMR because, if you could afford the PMR, get that over the slg.
The trilogy is pretty much a dead market.
Promasters are dying as well.
If you really wanted to go with the ion platform, go with the epiphany, I think you can find it for cheaper.

If it was a toss up between the epiphany or the pmr, the PMR would be my choice.

Vaporworks

has taken over customer support for ICD. I just recently picked up a Promaster and I love it. I've put in a new valve and polished up the ram for better efficiency & slightly lower operating pressure.
There's still a live board for ICD too:
http://www.icd-owners.com/html/index.php?name=Forums
I got mine delivered to my door for a little over $100 and I think it's a sweet shooting gun.

That's the post from the spring when I got it. I have to say that the attention to design detail and construction of the Promaster is well worth the new lower prices; no plastic or cheaply made parts on it. Besides, who cares if the factory stopped producing, does that make it any less of a quality marker?

Edit:
Here's one at $41 so far:

or one with a tank & hopper for $50 so far:

I was thinking the SLG because, on both the PMR and SLG I would probably get a metal back cap, new trigger, and new feedneck, so what's the point of spending the extra $75

and this trilogy has an e-frame (has semi-auto, full auto, and 2 ramping modes)

If you play your cards right, and get one with the right board even the older timmys can have the boards reflashed, my Species is a good example as it still has a Frenzy board in it, but it's been reflashed with newer code. So the stock board still supports PSP ramping, not to mention has all the settings to really need. I just have to figure out how to change the cap from 15bps to 13...

Not to mention, if you get a 2k5, there's isn't much you actually need to upgrade to have an awesome gun, really just huck some paint in it, toss on your tank and you're good.

What I don't like about the SLG is that it has alot of kick and I'm not to big on the stock trigger and feedneck, the trigger is ok but the feedneck is horrible. Also the stock barrel isn't the greatest but it isn't the worst

I voted for the SLG. A couple friends got them and absolutely love them. First things to swap out was the feedneck and the ASA. The trigger does take some getting used to... but I'd swap it out. The one guy can really rock the crap out of it though!

Definitely need a new feedneck off the bat... regardless! The other things are personal preference like everything is! Good luck!!!

Actually, I just remembered, the vibe is pretty tight. I tested that out at a field and it was better than the ion. Plus mike from techpb likes it :dodgy:
but seriously, it's pretty good.

If you dont want a spyder, the SLG shouldnt be up there. Its basically a proto spyder.

I'd say a used pm5/dm4
those run pretty cheap.

just because it's a sear tripper, it's a spyder?

i think what he is saying is that since it works the same why would you get one when you said ou dont want a spyder

I want something different. If I wanted a spyder I would just keep the one I have and put $200 into it

No... The SLG is not a blowbacl, it's a spool valve that uses a sear, therefore nothing like a Spyder except that is uses a sear. Does that mean it will shoot like an 800psi Pilot ACS? Of course not, I've actually heard some great things about it from a friend who shoots it over his SFT Shockers. It's definitely not a bad choice, but you could do better.

Buy a used gun from $200-300 and take your pick of 2k5 Timmys, 05 Angels, DM5/PM6, insanely upgraded Ions, upgraded PMRs, and a whole lot more.

what are the advantages of the PMR to the SLG other than the clamping feedneck? I know the SLG doesn't use standard reg threads, but I really don't care because it has a hyper 3 on it.

An epiphany is basically a fancy ion but still without a b o b. So if you want easy bolt access you have to get a ion body anyway. Look into a used ion something with a freak barrel, new reg, trigger, grips, feedneck, board and maybe even a new asa. Alot if people hate ions but I would trust one as much as a pmr. I would stay away from a slg and if you have money for a new pmr look for a used mini instead.

Well the PMR that I had was alot faster then the SLG probably just cause it had an aftermarket trigger, it also had alot less of a kick and may have been a bit quieter. Weight wise they are both around the same. What I like about the SLG is that it is alot more efficent then the PMR (the PMR was a really bad air hog) and I like the feel of the Hyper 3. As of now that's all that I can think of to compare the two but I'll update it when I think of more stuff
