View Full Version : Mounting my Sight

I'm looking on Ebay for a red dot sight. Nothing too fancy, under $30. I have an MR1 with the MR series sight rail. *LINK* http://www.paintball-online.com/paintball/Kingman-MR-Series-Tactical-Rail-Handle_prod_SGTKTRH It says its a 3/8th dovetail mount so will a 20mm sight fit? I bought a Tasco red dot sight in town but the mount is too big. What to do?

Isn't a 20mm the same size as a 7/8" rail?

Buy rails, drill holes in the MR3 rail and tighten it down. Thats what I did with mine.

I have like 4 weaver rails on my Tac Barrel, maybe I can take one off and screw it on the MR series rail like you said....

No it wont fit.
You said the red dot you want is a 20mm, that means a 7/8.

The carry handle you posted attaches to a 7/8 (20mm) but the rail over it is a 11mm ( 3/8 )

What you need is a offset mount, or a rail riser.

here's an example:

riser ( not 100% sure it fits in length, its important the lenght does not interfere with the cocking hammer )

you can also mount one of theses:

on the top of one or two of these:

Note the stores where i took those links are completely random, find a good store for good prices.

Hey Tailo haven't seen you for a long time. Also, Zee, you could make your MR1 side cocking.

Yeah irish i was busy with age of conan, my subscription to the university, the modding of my new T9, the waiting for my tactical ten commando vest and the re-modding of my mr1... Still claiming to be the best specialist in rail adapter solutions.

Sorry to take this so OT but, I remember when I was just starting out I always looked at your guides and stuff you posted, you were a great resource for newer guys. I should dig one of them up, if I recall correctly one of them was about rails and such...

EDIT: Here it is :) (http://www.spyder.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=6353)

Thanks for all the input everyone. Heres what I did...I took a removable weaver rail off my M16 barrel and did a temp rig to the MR3 (MR series) Rail. I then attached the red dot sight to this. This worked out pretty good actually (for a temporary fix). I then ordered this http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=230267135325 off of ebay. I just hope that it doesnt raise the sight up too high that it interferes with the hopper. Should end up working out well.

Zee, i have that same adapter you ordered, i use it to mount 20mm over a spyder classic top rail, quite a convenient piece.
It is 6.7cm long by 2.3 cm high and 2.5 cm wide. the two pieces on each sides are 3/8 (11mm ) rail, but once you mount somthing on top theres little place to fit something else, maybe a 3/8 laser...

Have fun.
