Ok basically I was tired of my desktop covered with shortcut icons so I went searching for a windows app launcher. Ran across rocketdock and after using it for a few days I thought it was worth sharing for people that hate having there desktop clustered with crap.

Basically just adds a dock to your desktop, such as the one used on macs. Makes for cleaner desktop and looks 100X better, you can move it to the top, bottom, left or right of the screen.

Icons stay all in the bar then when you put your mouse over it the icon bubbles up and adds the name under the icon (see pic below)

you can get it at www.rocketdock.com

MEH. I've never been a fan of those things.

I just redid mine with words instead of icons. I think it's pretty clean...

My most used programs are all on my Start menu, most of the time my desktop is only 3 icons... Not to mention, college gave me an intense hatred of Macs. I think I'll be riding the Windows platform until it self destructs.. ;)

I dont see how those clean up your desktop. You still have the same number of icons. To me it would seem that using ObjectDock would cause your desktop to be less organized since you are limited with ObjectDock.

Just my opinion. They are kindof cool though.

I use Launchy. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one here who uses it.

Just my opinion. They are kindof cool though. Really. I only have like 4 icons on my desktop. I hate overly showy applications, I'm currently running High contrast white 95 style on an XP machine because it runs faster and uses less memory.

Why do you hate Macs?

I have no icons on my desktop.

Right click > view > Hide Desktop Icons.

AIM starts automatically, and with that Firefox starts also when I log into my PC. Anything else I use pops up when I plug in my iPhone.

... so you don't use your computer for anything but browsing the internet and communication?
