View Full Version : Kingman take note...BARREL KITS

With the debute of the new electra with yet another 2-piece barrel, why hasn't Kingman figured out that making an economical but quality barrel kit is money in the bank. Honestly, 3 backs (.684[reballers, and evil shooters], .688 and .691 {accomodates most paint out there for customers in this markers price range}) are all most ballers will ever need. IMO these would sell like hotcakes if they kept the price tag reasonable. Whatta ya guys think

i agree. and make em compatible with stock VS/RS tips.

.685, .690, .693

Right now I carry .685, .689, .691, .693

anyone remember the dye triple threat kit? i cant remember the bore sizes, but it was a mini UL kit for spyders.

Yea it sounds good.

But competition is stiff in the barrel category.

Even though most rec players buy all their stuff at once, and suprisingly I see VS series with stock upgraded barrels which suprises me. I also saw a pilot with the VS series barrel. At that point I was like kingman needs to think of something..lol

well put it on the list with a kingman pistol

lol, this one?

That would be a good idea everything else they make sells.

It may sound like a good idea, but take 5 minutes and think about all of the barrels that are already out there that sell like hot cakes and are very good. Plus alot of kits are already available for a reasonable cost. Sometimes it just isn't smart for companies to introduce a new product.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be smart for Kingman, they just may know something more about the market than all of us do.

yeah, i mean, $70 for a brand new Edge kit? kingman will have to come up with something good to compete with that price and quality.

well, why can't they just sell them for less...now i may be completely wrong, i don't know much about this stuff, but here it goes...it costs what, like $1.00 to make a whole barrel kit, right. the engineering is already done on these types of barrels, so the design cost would also be low. with that, couldn't they sell them for 40-50 and still make enough profit?

05-14-2008, 03:37 PM
but if they use a design that's already been engineered that would be infringing on somebody else' patent.

yeah, im pretty sure J&J has a patent on ceramic paintball barrels. i'm surprised SP hasnt come out with multi-bored AA backs and patented that as a multi-backed kit. they could screw everyone over like that!

Kingman could just sell different diameter backs individually that would work with the vs/rs tips. I have seen dye UL backs sell for $40 a pc. If spyder could sell them for $20-$30 I'd bye atleast 3 different diameters. A stainless steel back could be offered for an extra $10 more then the aluminum back. Angel sells a 4pc. set .687 .689 and .693 for $70 on action village. If they could keep a kit under $100 maybe it would cut into the freak market. There is alot of bad blood toward sp out there it would be great to have another alterative to the freak kit.
