View Full Version : BT Barrel Problem, Very Mad

I just got my 16" Spyder MR1 RIS Tactical Combat Paintball Barrel from Ultimate paintball today in the mail. I go to put it on my MR1 and the reservoir plug get in the way of the barrel shroud. They said it fits the MR1, that should mean outta the box. What can I do to get that barrel on there? I paid almost $100 with shipping for this thing.

Reservoir plug? What do you mean? The plug on the front of the MR1 body? Does it screw in any more?

Yeah the plug rite under the barrel. It sticks out and blocks the barrel from screwing in.

Thats the barrel I bought. I read about a similar problem with an AK barrel and the person just cut the plug.

I shouldnt have to mod my gun since it says in the description that the barrel will only fit the MR1.

I think that is what would have to be done, but have you lokked on the MR1 pic thread here or on pbnation

Yeah only this one

I guess a hacksaw or dremel is the way to go. Still makes me angry though.

id honestly go with a dremil....that way you can take off as much or as little as possible so that you dont screw it up too bad

I have one in my tool box but I can honestly say I've never used it lol I'm sure I can get another plug from a shop in town if I blow it.

It says Tippmann 98 Custom barrel. They aren't interchangeable. The site looks a little messed up on it's links though.

Where do you see that?

i read it said fits the mr1

there should be screws to loosen the shroud and move it forward to clear the plug.

05-13-2008, 03:23 PM
yeah...ahh well

The sniper stock I also bought isnt a perfect fit either. What a mess.

05-13-2008, 03:24 PM
really? k i'll try that

Email/call the store and ask them about it. If no replacement is available to directly replace it without modification, then I would simply return it and not bother trying to modify that part. It doesn't sound like a very bright idea to me to be ****in' with something holding back 850psi of CO2.

I have to say it.... this wouldn't be a problem if you had bought a conventional paintball barrel. Hell, for $100 you could have a Fibur and an insert!

05-13-2008, 03:28 PM
coulda woulda shoulda lol

No luck moving the shroud....I think she's permanent.

I found a pic of an MR1 with this barrel on it. Doesn't look like anything was modded. So confused...

can you take close-up pics of the barrel, because i'm 110% sure there are screws on there that need to be loosened up.

05-13-2008, 04:31 PM
My barrel is similar, but mine is a Rap4, and the hand guards are Ops Gear, it had 4 screws to lose the hand guard and move it either foward or backwards. Here are the pics so you can have the idea:

Also has a screw under the sight, the screws from the back piece are under the hand guard, you have to remove the sight and the front piece...

Yeah i firgured it out...screw inside a screw if that makes sense. Woulda been nice to get directions with it. Thanks for the help everyone.

No problem, that's what where here for!!!!

Dude I had the same problem, what you have to do is dis´s-assemmble the foregrip and move it a little bit up the barrel.
Loosen the Handguard and iron sight, then screw your barrel in the marker and assemble the whole thing again. The screws for the whole thing should be undearneath and they are very small, inside small holes.
I think you need milimetric allen wrenches.
Well, after screwing the barrel in and placing the parts where theyre supposed to be, tighten everything up and your good to go, make sure everythin is centered (I put my marker upside down on top of a flat surface (table) so everything is leveled and centered correctly, then I tighten the screws). I hope this helps
I was very stressed too, but then I figured out there is some assembly required.
