Thats right, on Tuesday I went and looked at a 2002 Jetta, well I liked it so I put money down on it and I picked it up yesterday.

Stats:
-2002 Jetta Sedan White
-2.0l
-73.5K Miles
-Monsoon Stereo upgrade (although I already ordered this head unit (http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?g=300&i=500CDA9885&tp=5684)
-New speakers and sub/amp to come later

Well here are the pictures...

I love my Jetta, nothing girly about it. 2001 with 195k miles and it still runs strong. The stock Monsoon sound system is very strong, people always think I have a small sub. I also highly recommend the monster mats. Watch out for it burning oil. It's a known issue with early 2001 models, don't know if it extended into 2002 or not, but some cars use a quart of oil every 1k miles.

Other suggested upgrades:
M3 trunk lip spoiler
"Joey Mod" the headlights (look it up online)
Euro headlight switch

All in all, very nice! Just watch out for "orange peel" on the door handle and radio surround.

oh, yeah, to take the stock radio out, one of the best things to use is a couple of slices of plastic the thickness and hardness of a credit card, about 1/4" wide, pops the radio right out.

Regretting it now.

MK3 jettas are where its at. MK4 and MK5 are girl cars. :( If diesel wasn't so expensive now, I'd get a MK3 TDI for a daily.

Your argument doesn't make sense. Diesel is more expensive, but in a properly tuned and maintained VW, people are seeing 40-50mpg, compared to the 2.0 8v getting 25? How is $0.40/gal vs double the mileage a bad thing?

Who said anything about a 2.0 VW? There's no point in buying a TDI, to spend even more money than I do on gas, for 10mpg difference? there's a $30 difference for every 120gal I'd buy, plus the cost of purchasing the car. If I was saving a considerable amount it'd be worth it. $30 every 6 months isn't enough savings. That was basing my current car at 30mpg and the TDI at 40. Even at 50mpg for the TDI, its saying $75 every 6 months on gas.

I only brought up the 2.0 because it is, theoretically, VW's most efficient gas motor, I was using it as a comparison.

Plus, I have a somewhat skewed view of gas, as I drive 40k/year and have for the past 8 years.

To be honest... I think the MK3's are a little ugly.

I guess if you put a little money into the body to give it more form, it looks decent... but IMO the new ones look better.

...but you DO always see girls driving them. Just like DelSol's, Miata's, and Sunfires. >.<

Good to know. I should be receiving the head unit tomorrow from the big brown truck :D. If it comes soon enough I should be able to get it in before work if not should have it in on Tuesday.

Looking at getting JL Audio 2-ways, friend has them in his truck and they sound amazing for only like 20 dollars more than most two-ways. Worth it to me. Need to get working though! LOL

:(

Sorry Chris, I like Toyota but Camry was alittle to far out of my price range for the mileage and year I wanted and I don't like Corolla's.

does it go off roading?

Don't know yet.. will have to test it out :smirk:
