yes. and yes.
Welcome to the forums! Check out the Ultimate Resource thread in my sig to learn more about the spyder. It has alot of information.

pilots are fairly good for woodsball.........most dont have a color that is very noticable in the woods.....your going from being a sniper to more of a machinegunnist so it should be different to say the least
05-05-2008, 01:44 PM
and what would the max range be with the progressive barrel?
05-05-2008, 01:45 PM
they all fire the same range its the accuracy that is affected......ive used it once i thought it was fairly good
05-05-2008, 01:52 PM
so they are easily better than the 98 custom(most of the people i play with use them)
05-05-2008, 01:54 PM
they are more of a speedball oriented gun, as tippmann are more milsim.
Id take one over the 98 any day.
the only thing that tippmann have over spyder is the way that Tippmanns can take a car on top of it, and it will work
05-05-2008, 01:55 PM
im not going to say anything on that because to each his own.....what i may like might not be what you like
05-05-2008, 01:58 PM
well i have a spyder aggressor and ive had ALOT less problems with it than with the 98
From what I've seen Spyders are far easier to disassemble than Tippmanns. However with a Tippmann you probably won't have to disassemble it often. Spyders are great multi-purpose guns for rec ballers and you can always up it to make it even better.

I might suggest an apex, since you are a woodsball guy (curve left, right,up,down, or no curve)
05-05-2008, 04:35 PM
i looked at it but decided that i wouldnt want to have to waste money on something i might not take full advantage of.
I'm not a huge believer of the Apex. I feel it's unnecessary and quite a bit of money.
05-05-2008, 04:55 PM
i think they are very bhard to use

05-07-2008, 01:47 PM
ive found it for like $30 and while im "getting used to it" ill proably be getting lit up. sorry for the tone
05-07-2008, 02:00 PM
Id agree youd have to spend some time and money trying to get used to it outside of a game
05-07-2008, 02:39 PM
it's not really difficult to get used to and its' not difficult to turn the curve off, I don't see a down side
05-09-2008, 03:30 PM
well why buy it if im not gonna use the curve feature? its like buying a computer only to type crap on, why get it if your not gonna take full advantage of it?

Uh.... plug in from a knowledgeable baller here.... Get a decent barrel from a decent company. Proto, DYE, Stiffi, Deadlywind, Smart Parts, etc etc. They are all about $35-75 used, and all are excellent companies with excellent barrels. I don't like the Apex because it's honing sucks ass (which kills accuracy) in order to get the ball to arc like it does. Not a very bright idea, like the Flatline. Neither are accurate, and if you care to break balls on whatever you can hit -- instead of just floating out there and getting worthless bounces -- then get one of the barrels from one of the manufactures I listed, even if it is a Proto 1-piece or an All American.

get a set of sticky dye grips the stock one stink
The pilot is A good marker with a few upgrades
I play woodsball and love it Do you want to through some paint if so get a new feed neck hopper and a stronger spring then you can snipe or unload on people.
05-09-2008, 08:21 PM
.... A stronger spring? Care to explain that for me? :)

Get a new spring or up your FPS.
