well, my friend gave me an old minicam yesterday, and i knew exactly what i was going to do with it. i couldnt find a decent place to mount it on my gun, so i pulled out my old JT hard ears and went for the next best option:

How does it feel when you have it on

its actually WAY lighter than my digital camera (maybe 10x lighter!), so you can't really feel it. i miss my softears though, the mask isnt that comfortable anymore...

i need to attach a string to the strap loop so that during the chance that it does slip off, it won't hit the ground. but its pretty sturdy. the one thing that may become a problem is the door, because the door is the on/off, so if the door closes during a game, the camera shuts off. i may have to wedge something in between to keep it open because i slide into bunkers a lot. but i've shaken the mask, and the door isnt closing, so i may be good. can't wait to test it out next saturday.

i wanted to mount this to my gun, but then 75% of the footage would be the gun pointing towards the ground, so the mask seemed like a better idea.

That's what I was thinking too, so I went and found some video editing tools that are really cool. That way I can cut that ground stuff out, and I have to rotate the picture anyway since I have it mounted sidways for access to the buttons. you might want to check out the program, its free, reliable, and loaded with features, = JAHSHAKA (http://sourceforge.net/projects/jahshakafx/).

wrap that in like electric tape or some sorta wrap so the camera internals dont get paint in there somehow. Im sure the plastic on the cam can take a hit, but the tape should reinforce it a bit.

It looks like it might be a bit side heavy, are you sure it won't make your mask slip off or anything?

If so, you might try adding a second strap for stability.

he'll start pulling shots to the left now because thats the side all the weight is on

Haha.

Might I suggest making a Lexan case to go around it? Trust me, you'll appreciate it once you put it around the camera. Seeing that on the side of someones mask is like a giant bullseye with the text "Please shoot here" printed on your chest. You're GOING to get shot in it and it's going to break after the first shot of 290-300FPS.

I can make you one if you want... just get me the measurements of the camera.

its not really heavy, it weighs about as much as a full bottle of Gold Cup

and the only thing thats really giving me problems are the ears because they don't , but if i wear a hat, it'll hold the mask up better (with or without camera)

i'll see what i can find, if not, i'll send you the measurements.

when i open the camera up, i can slip the zip tie in the hinge to the door, and that stabilizes it a lot more and keeps the door from opening. i've shaken it really hard in every direction, and it seems to hold up fine.

if you don't want to do the lexan cover, make a giant soft ear to go around it, might not be as good as the lexan cover but will give mor protection than you have now, btw the link wasn't workin for me with the vid

that looks to be dimensionally like approx 2" x 5" x 5" or so...

Perhaps these cases would work well for you...

http://www.adorama.com/catalog.tpl?op=itemlist&cat1=Cases&cat2=Universal%20Equipment%20Cases&cat3=Plastic%20Cases&Sterm=camera_plastic_case&gclid=CJ3XzPaAnZMCFRw9IgodjAdjrw&sid=1210459096985798 (http://www.adorama.com/catalog.tpl?op=itemlist&cat1=Cases&cat2=Universal%20Equipment%20Cases&cat3=Plastic%20Cases&Sterm=camera_plastic_case&gclid=CJ3XzPaAnZMCFRw9IgodjAdjrw&sid=1210459096985798)

or onto the more expensive:

or use their size calculator:

...to find the right sized box.

thanks druid, but i'm not worried about a carrying case, just a lexan one.

Well, I meant them to be as a mounting box to protect it while you play...

The boxes come clear and you can put the "running" camera in it and mount it somewhere and have it protected at the same time. The clear plastic should allow for recording through it....

ah, ok. thanks.

I think that lexan would be easier. Only thing that I would be worried about would be the edges. If your playing and it gets shot a few time the adhesive holding the edges together might not hold up. I could probably make one for you but this isn't bst.

So you use brackets? Thats what I was going to do when I built it...

I put two hinges in the front so that you could open it to get the camera out/item out, drilled little holes in the sides and put 3 screws in, then I glued it as well. Threw it off my porch by mistake the other day... >.< didn't break.

i havent had time to look around, but i'm probably going to look for that sealant stuff or melt it together. i didnt see it at lowes, but i probably wasnt looking enough. i'm gonna swing by there and home depot after my final tomorrow. i'll probably leave the back open just to make it easier to operate.

If you want to get serious about it, you can buy an extension camera for it. So that you can have your camera in your pack and have wires running up to the helmet extension cam.

i dont think it'll work. its a cheap camera and only has a headphone jack and mini USB port. plus the window has to stay open for the camera to record.
