Watching tonights hockey game between the Calgary Flames, and the San José sharks, i noticed that Jim Vandermeers stick had small, maybe 2 inch oblong holes in it on the shaft, anyone know who makes these sticks, and what the holes are supposed to accomplish?

allows the stick to be thrusted easier with less resistance...
haha i have no idea..sounds logic though

Sounds about right... like the freshie paddles just about everyone here made in HS... ;)
Good idea, but whatever it's made of must be hella strong to deal with professional calibre punishment.

yeah, i kinda figured it was to reduce resistance, but then again how much resistance does the little surface of a stick make? the only other thing i can think of is to increase the snap back to its naturaly position, giving it a slightly harder shot.
Yeah thats the other thing i was wondering, is how it can stand up in a game situation (especially if you have seen this series haha)

Maybe its just to make it lighter, although composite sticks are already pretty freakin light (and expensive).
By the way, why is Calgary losing!??
