View Full Version : first day with the phantom

so i got my phantom in a few weeks ago, and i finally got a chance to take it out and play yesterday. here's a pic of it :D

so anyway, i went with the paintball club i just started at tulane to a popular field about 45 minutes away from new orleans called paintball command. they played a lot of scenario style games with regeneration and stuff. i really wanted to play some speedball, but with regeneration with lots of people on a bigger field, i got to play and shoot a lot more than i would have on an elimination game. so i think i adjusted faster to the pump than i would have otherwise. also, with regeneration, i was more willing to take risks and learn faster.

it was so sweet when i managed to take people out with only one or two balls instead of the 20 or so i'd just lay down hoping to hit someone with my mag cuz i could. it was so small and light, too. snap shooting was amazing (though i really need to work on it to get accuracy down), and i managed to hold my own a couple of times against guys with semis. i got a lot better at it over the course of just the few hours we played.

i also played for about a quarter of the cost of a day of play with my mag, which was awesome since i'm a poor college student. lol

it also looks a lot like the shunut spimmy.

Sorta, 'cept the Spimmy has the "flames" from the front.

Lookin' good, Caleb! Glad to see another pumper here on SOC!

so second day out, i played for a whole $10. :D

a few of us from the club went to a local team practice, and i brought along the phantom. a few people underestimated it, and even though i didn't really shoot many people out, just the fact that i was able to move around so quickly with it shocked some people

i really realized how much of a different game you have to play when you can't rely on fast shooting. i moved a lot more, smarter, and much more aggressively than i would have with another marker, and i was able to scare the crap out of a couple of guys one game. it was a lot of fun. later we ran some drills with the team, and i noticed drastic improvement with my aim since the first weekend i played with it.

i love pump. lol

i played with my hammer yesterday, and i managed to keep a few guys pinned down with the autotrigger :D i realized halfway through the day that it didnt matter what gun i used, i enjoyed playing exactly the same. the only reason i wanted to switch back to my spyder (before i found out it was leaking) was because there was only 1 guy with an electro on our team, and like 3 on the other team, and my team wasnt exactly that good to begin with.

just wondering, are pump guns had to find cause i wanted to get one.

04-27-2008, 04:51 PM
nope, they usually have about 2-3 hammers on ebay. havent looked into any others. if you want a really good one though, they're about $200-$300.

yeah, i'm looking forward to bringing my mag and spimmy down to college next year, now that the club's tourney team has a place to play with inexpensive paint and no field or air fee. yay private team fields. lol. and of course, i'll still play with the phantom :)
