I'm looking into buying my first high-end marker sometime in the next year and I would like you guys' input. Please put why you chose the marker you did.

PS: I'm thinking of the Russian Legion LE.

if you can afford it go with the RL cuz those are sexy.
protege's are good too and less expensive, and the rapper also looks great and will shoot great.

any choice above will perform great so you really couldnt go wrong w/ any of em'

Closer High for the high end of the spectrum
Marq 6 for the middle
protege for the bottom.

5th gen timmies are awesome but just getting one shooting when they go down can be a real hassle.

The real business with marq's is that you really want to have an opening to the LPR right below the grip so you can use the LPR tester easily. The closer has that.

With any of these guns you'll want an lpr tester.

Somewhere in the next year, new guns will come out, guns noones ever heard of will come out, and prices will drop.
Id say just work your but of getting money and after the new 09 guns come out, you can buy them all ;)

I have a vice and I love it. I also had a marq 7 about 8 months ago. I love teh feel of both of them. May I ask what position u play? If ur a snake/front player u might wanna go with the marq series(I'm a closer fan myself) because of the slightly more compact design(not that teh gen 5 timmys are bulkly but they are a stacked tube design). If u play back/mid/stand up I would highly recomend the vice. Feel free to pm me/ im me if u have any questions.

I don't play speedball :D. I want something reliable, with a fast rate of fire and relatively easy to maintain.

lol, I already have a MR1 and a woodsball-converted Icon Z. I just want the experience of having one of these, and maybe lay down a little suppressive fire aka get extremely trigger happy. Also, look at my sig.

Well since u want something easy to matain I would sugest the vice or protege. But also since ur just playin woodsball why don't u get an alias or somthing like that. The only difference will be some weight and maybe a lil speed. A closer or vice will be ALOT of overkill. If u want me to I can make a video of my vice. Just lmk

Depends on what you want.
Timmies are Poppits
Marqs are spools? (I think?)
Poppits have better efficiency
Spools are quieter

For me, Id probly get the Edge. It looks like a mysterious marker that not many have and I would like to further explore them

A closer or vice will be ALOT of overkill.

Is that a bad thing:)? I was looking at the closer and it seems to be quite the marker.

where's bigred saying "get a borg, get a borg" ?

^my thoughts exactly, but since he wont i will, get a used 06 or 07 borg (or new if you can afford it) he reccomended it to me, and well lets just say <3 tim for suggesting it, once i got it in working order( took me a while cuz im the beggest nube ever on EP guns, cept for ions and such) but it shot BA

also, why do you want a nice, easy to screw up in the woods, speedball gun?

Sorry, was busy spectating a tourney today...

GET A BORG!!! How does maintenance every 10 cases of paint sound to you? ;) The '06 Borg was the fastest single barreled marker up to the recent release of the SL8R, at 35bps. My Borg has never had any issues that are really serious with me. I only had issues when I was tinkering with the LPR where I prolly shouldn't have.

<3 back at ya, Dillon! Told ya how to get it running right, lmao! They're so damn easy to set, too. HPR at 200psi, LPR a quarter to half turn in from reliable movement (no sticking). Adjust HPR according to altitude/location/weather for proper velocity. Should be about 275fps though, just with those settings.

I'll look at the borgs again than, thanks. I want one to A)satisfy my trigger-happiness and B)play a machine gun type role (suppressive/covering fire).

EDIT: I looked at the 07 Cyborg and it was not only technically superior to the Bob Longs but also cheaper. It looks like I'll be getting one of those.

Yes borgs are great guns.....They also have poor resale and are ugly (imo of course). I would sugest getting a protege for ur needs. It won't need any more maintenance than a borg will and it will have better resale. I also think its smaller.

On a side note the 08 borgs will come out in the fall and there is alot of buzz about them. You may want to wait till then to make ur choice.

Is there anyway u can go and test out the guns were talking about?

Sorry, forgot to include that, Andy! Yeah, wait until Cup rolls around to get the Cyborg07. They'll be cheaper as people will be offing them to afford the Cyborg08. They have "****ty resale" because "hype" and "agg" is not included into the price as it's unneeded nor wanted by 9/10 of it's users. (gotta include 9/10 now because damned HK woke up and smelled the coffee and now shoots them....)

For any Cyborg, I highly sugest one upgrade from stock: the PBK Scythe trigger. Other than that.... 2000 shots per tank fill stock sounds like it needs NOTHING else! ;) The stock Matchstick is still one of the best in the industry, the Gladiator has some of the best recharge you've ever seen, and the valve/bolt system is as smooth as butta... Can't improve much without dropping $120 into it for the bolt, ram, and valve.... which I have yet to get and see if there actually is a noticable difference!

Well, I won't have enough saved up until the end of this year, so I'm going to have to wait. And unfortunately, no, there isn't a way to try one out first.

According to PBN MacDev has stopped going with the yearly incarnation of the Cyborg and will be doin the next gen. sort of thing. Not sure how reliable that info is, just what i've been hearing...

They've always done that... Look at the gap between the '04/05 Cyborg and the '06. It's like the difference between the Shocker 4X4 (Sport) and the Shocker SFT! The '07 Borg was merely a modified 2k6 platform, trying to tinker with seeing how marketable it was. They succeeded slightly, but I have a feeling that the next generation Cyborg, the 2k8, will be something radical. That isn't just whatever dramatic gossip PBN decides to display, it's just my personal feeling. They did amazing with the release of the Droid, which was the product of several years of secret designs. I believe that since the Cyborg '06/'07 did so well, they decided to not just modify the marker again, but totally redo it and reincarnate it's legacy once again. I plan on buying one from TimberTiger as soon as they're available! :D

if they change anything on the borg it needs to be a better stock trigger or different design
