Ok so the 1 07 is the hydro date correct? Now, is that the date it was tested on or the date it needs to be tested on? Also after how many years does a carbon fiber tank have to be hydroed?

was it new when you bought it

Yes, I'd assume he bought it new from his local shop that's been holding onto it for a year or so, or he bought it used from someone who bought it from a shop a year ago.

I can't tell you for sure whether it's a 3yr or 5yr tank as the DOT number is obscured by the flash, but assuming it's a 5yr hydro tank, it'll need rehydro in January, 2012.

no think there both 3 and 5 year

After 2001/2002 (I can't remember which), the DOT-E codes changed. There are now 3yr and 5yr tanks, and pretty much all are 15yr life.

found this on PbN

Great info!

So yeah my tank would have to be retested on 1/2012

BTW: I bought the tank on eBay. Says BNIB and it did come in its plastic container.

Typing this as you posted. This would be some good info to be sticky'd in the Air system section...
