I was just wondering, do you need to buy lubrication specific for paintball guns or can you use other things like DW-40?

Welcome to SOC.

I really would recommend paintball specific marker oil. Something like Gold cup Oil. You can get a bottle of it and it will last you an insanely long time.

You have to use air gun specific oil as well. Not "firearm" gun oil, the oil for firarms is to reduce heat and wear ect. However because air guns are cold because of the air you have to use different oil. Even automatic airgun oil will work (For air tools) But a little bottle of paintball gun oil will last a very long time.

Do not use WD-40 because it will damage o-rings. WD-40 is not friendly with rubber.

Actually WD-40 gets rid of lubrication because it's meant to break down old grease. Used WD-40 on a skateboard once... *shudders*

You should use a silicone based lube, as opposed to a petrolium based lube.
Spyder sells a lube. I ve used it since i bought my marker, with 1 broken o-ring in about 10 cases
