I thought I'd bring it to the attention of the mods that since Bamf (I presume) discovered the flashy fonts that scroll and stuff, and TRB put it in his sig and Bamf in some titles... This forum has been incredibly slow. I had few problems before with pictures, but this is insane. I wait 30 seconds per link just because of moving text. :dodgy:

thnx, sorry if i sound pissed but it took me 3 minutes to get to this page to post.

25.407 seconds to load the page on a T3 line... Can't blame it on the sig pics anymore!!! :nododgy:

i think we can stop blaming the forum for lagging, and start blaming it on the mods :dodgy:

edit: i havent been really lagging that much for a couple days now...

I'm down to 20 seconds but before I was up at an average of nearly 40.

2.969s on a residential DSL line. I don't think its the marquee text. I think someone is just jealous they can't have scrolling text :dodgy:

I tried in both Firefox and IE. IE loads way faster than Firefox does for me.

i can say that earlier today (from like 12-4 or 5) the forum was really slow. it took forever for pages to load, but it seems as though its gotten better

2.500 now. IDK what it was. It was truly unbearable though. I was chilling on the nation.

mines been jumping from .300s to 18.000s, with an average somwhere between 4 and 7.

:yeahthat:, but in my time zone, and more like jumping from .025 seconds to 120sec (no joke). It was really weird, and I had to go on PBN to browse the 'Cocker forums it was so bad here...

I'm not jealous of seizure inducing signatures one bit, Josh.... :dodgy:

my sig will not change, if you think that a simple html code is slowing down the forums you are nuts, avators use more bandwidth than than that sig...

The new forums dont get along with FF I surf on IE and it has not slowed down at all from my usual surfing speed.

So either change browsers, or deal with the speed change, because all of these little things are not slowing down your surfing.

maybe it is because the hamsters in our hamster powered servers are getting old... :dodgy: seems like a more logical reason than the blinking/scrolling sigs.

matt, its seriously harder to read anything on the page with your sig moving like that.

Out of all the sites i go to, this is one of the fastest, imo it has nothing to do with the site here, maybe theres some problems with some of the bigger servers out there, no wait, i got it, its the turrists that are causing this, thats what the war on terror is about... slow internet, i mean comeon, if you were bush, wouldnt you be pissed you couldn't get onto the internet even from the whitehouse? i think you would...

Well maybe mentioning that instead of "hey you mod guy you are slowing down my internet it is all your faultz" would get it removed... first thing you learn in the real world is that you get different results by using different approaches

I think I am going to put 10 full size images in my sig... That should help the speed.

Of course I have no issues with site latency.

Then either deal with slow forums, buy kingman a new webserver, or stop coming to the site...

2.137 seconds. DSL.

Yeah, I don't think it has anything to do with sig pics or the text.

It's a problem unrelated. It's sporadic at best.

So bring the sig pics back that are limited to 500X100 or w.e. it was.

I want my sig pic.

A little screen appearing onto the forums saying "Banned because: COMPLAINER" should fix that..... :dodgy:

I'm completely in favor of America's right to protest, and as such, I went and made signs for this very cause!

Firefox doesn't even support accessability, for that reason alone I will not use it. I have it on my computer, but I'll stick with IE, I have no problems with it. Back to the topic at hand...

The sigs aren't causing a problem and they aren't going to change, move on.

What do you mean by accessibility?

I've not found one thing IE can do that Firefox can't.

i tried using IE just to see if it ran faster, and not having spell check and adblock/no script was killing me! and FF and IE loaded the same pages at just about the same speeds.

Accessability - Alternate text for images and links for visually impaired people. Since my little sister is visually impaired, thats kind of a big one for me.

The no spelling check thing kills me too, but I'm sure the is an add-on for that.

ABP ftw. I have so many plug-ins that now this FireFox is totally customized to me except for a couple quirks.

My Firefox has both accessibility and spell check. No add ons.
Type "about:config" into firefox, and change things starting in "accessibility" to true. For spellchecker set "spellchecker.dictionary" to "en-US". I think it should default to on in new versions. I couldn't find a boolean to turn it off.

Here's a link for another accessibility suite if yours still isn't working. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1891

And I'm willing to admit I may have hastily assumed that the new item was what caused the delay. I apologize only for the apophenia inherent in mankind, not for my mistake.
