I was thinking about making some and selling them. I was just wondering about how many of you would be interested. Unfortunately I would not be able to make them for spyders :(
I can make them for these guns
05/06 Speed GAT
Alien Remains
Angel A4 90*
CCI Phantom
DM5/PM5/PM6/SM5
Ego 07/08
Ego up to 06
Element Ion Frame V2
Fusion/Threshold
NDZ PMR
Proto Matrix Rail
Shocker/Ion/Nerve

you would have to tell me the amount of screws on the frame and the exact distance from screw to screw (has to be exact or you won't get the screws lined up right.) I will not make any grips that are not flat on the inside. If you would want the most accurate measurments and looks you would have to send me your frame. I was thinking about charging $25 shipped for each of them. Like I said before, I am not selling them yet. I just want to see how many people are interested.
If your gun is not on the list you would have to send your frame with nothing in it to me and I will be able to make some for you.

As of right now I have them on a stock ion frame and an element v2 frame. These take a very long time to make. I even bevel the edges which takes a long time. I will get pics up shortly. I have not made them for a few of the frames up there yet. But If you send the frame I could do all of the exact measuring to make them a 100% perfect fit.

he makes acryllic. I can make them 2 ways. Clear (like glass) or slightly blurred (able to see through but not as well).

Heres a slightly blurred one.

How much do you think would be a fair price? (slightly blurred would be $1 more because it takes an extra 15 min.)

EDIT
These take me 2-4 hours to make, I don't want to go too cheap.

just out of curiosity, why cant you make them for spyders? i understand that the groove for the solenoid could be time consuming, but what about standard .45 grips for mech frames??

I guess I could. Just not the solenoid and battery cutouts.

I made some for others out of plexi...and for Spyders. It involves making 2 sets of grips for each side. Take one set and cut them out for the noid and battery and the solid panel goes over top. The "spacer" is flat edged and the outer panels are tapered/rounded for comfort.

One way to hide the "cutouts" is to paint the underside of the outer panels.

yeah, thats what I thought. But the grips would be too thick. What would you guys be willing to pay for them?

one thing to maybe look into is a way to keep them from cracking where you put the screws in, some people like to over tighten everything and that would make short work of this kind of grip. that being said, they look pretty nice

I have tried to over tighten them and crack them, they won't crack :) It is about 110x stronger than glass. What would you be willing to pay? (I need your frame to insure the right sized holes etc on the grips)

I have to disagree on the "too thick" part. Your Lexan looks to be about 1/8" thick to 3/32" thick which is about what my Plexi was. It realy realy isn't that bulky...

And as far as Lexan cracking as easy as Plexi does...not likely. Lexan is the material used in goggle lenses, OSHA rated safety glass lenses and bullet proof "glass" applications (when layered and glued properly). It really is tough stuff. However if one was worried about the mounting holes, you could always use a very small nylon washer under the screw head to cushion the screw.

I sold mine for $25 shipped with the spacer (and painted) so $20-$25 shipped isn't that unreasonable for unbreakable grips.

Ok thanks, for all the help. Pm me for a an exact quote because prices will be different for different guns. If you ever want grips just let me know! (send me the frame and the money if you want themm)

I will have some sample biohazzard grips on my ion on ionowners sometime soon. Check those out, tell me what you think of the logo.

As far as the lexan's strength... I work at the jail in jacksonville. When some glass gets broke, we replace it with lexan. Lexan can be broke/cracked but it takes a lot of force. It will also crack but not totally shatter. There will be hairline fractures in it but it stays together because it is kind of rubbery. We had a kid that was going to play with us one day and his goggles were cracked. Dude was going to use them! I said "can I see them?" and when he handed them to me I took the lens out and folded them in half to try to break them. The suckers would not break. I ended up working them back and forth until they finally broke. Then I dug out a new lens for the kid and gave it to him. I gave him the ole' "your eyes are precious, you only have two, $15 bucks will save 'em" speach. It was totally worth $15 so I didn't have to take this kid to the emergency room and feel bad for the rest of my life knowing that I allowed him to get his eyes shot out. The lens would have probably withstood some hits but with the cracks he still could have gotten shrapnel in there. Long story short? Lexan is bad ass.

You mean THIS (http://www.spyder.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=2292) one? ;)

and BTW...Spray and pray...PM me your mailing address and I'll send you a set of Spyder panels that I found laying around. You can use them as templates for your Lexan models.

Do you do straight .45 grips?

Wow. that was one hell of a read. Poor stupid guys. Should have had some one like me around to kick the arses for not wearing goggles:D . If I saw kids playing like that I would kick their butts, Kick their parents' butt, and then go buy them some masks.
