whats the difference between the CMS upgrade and the standard mounting system?

and if i picked up the CMS would I be able to take off the bent metal piece used to mount it?

1. The regular socket only mounts to a vertical cylinder...like a gas-through or a regulator. The CMS includes the necessary items to mount the CMS in a variety of manners...rails, etc.

2. Yes.
