apple tries to say its not a virus, just a bad program that you have to click to get infected by it. Well how come with teh AIM links, they call them viruses? Seems like someone has no explanation :p , i cant wait till phil sees this.

Good thing i dont use ichat, and i dont open random files....common sense. come on people. Sooner or later people would start to write mac viruses. Who cares. Just dont be retarded and youll be fine. I have both a mac and a PC. Love them both for different things.

oooooooooo one mac virus, lol. theres only like a billion for PC users. and ya sooner of later it there will be a lot more out there for macs. but i heard its a lot harder to write a virus for a mac thats why people dont do it, not sure on that statment??? i had a mac since i was like 7 and i dont think ive ever had a virus.

haha yup that was me in that thread that said get a mac they never get viruses, go figure. lol

its not that its harder...since when is it hard for coders to code anything :/
Its due to the fact tha if you want to infect tons of people, you would do it using the product that people use the most. If billions of people are using IE, then you write a virus for IE because it will get around quicker. Since it seems that more people use PC's then coders write viruses for PC's cuz really who cares about macs? they're already suffering by using them :) jk.

Whatever is more popular will get into more trouble quicker is what im basically saying.

People get viruses by being dumb and opening stuff they obviously shouldn't....

so, the only reason mac users don't get viruses is because they have common sense? and the reason pc users get viruses is because they lack it?

there's plenty of viruses for macs, but us mac users just choose not to have them!

the user that opened this dumb virus has now been banned from using macs....

that's my commentary, so there!!!

You could have a point there. I've gone through 4 years and 2 computers and never had a single virus. Some nasty spyware, but never a virus or anything that caused me to crash or anything like that. As long as you use common sense and have the proper programs, you shoudnt have any problems...I run Windows Defender and I had Norton, but just started using Avast! Antivirus (it's free and takes up wayyyy less memory than Norton) and it finds stuff that Norton couldn't find..a little common sense goes a long way..

hmm, gonna have to download some Avast!, thanks D. im about to build computer #2, and i wont make the same mistake i did last time, going to sites i shouldnt go to without having good protection. now i have malware on my computer (but its getting scrapped and HD wiped in about a week!)

I have both a mac and a PC. Love them both for different things. its like fire, when the mac user that has never had to worry about a virus sees a link... is the first thing that comes to thier mind "its definately a virus"... like a caveman and fire, someone will get curious (often percieved as stupid) and click the link (get burned). pc users have had virus avoiding as an everyday thing, making it easier to avoid.

That's not a virus, it's an application... read the description.
When unpacked, the archive includes an application that resembles a JPEG file. When it’s clicked on, the file executes and attempts to propagate itself via the buddy list of Apple’s instant messaging software iChat.
You quit the application and it's done, that's hardly malicious.

It doesn't even do anything... it will open your iChat and send the program to other people, like you wouldn't notice that? You're offline? Too bad, it won't do anything. Don't have iChat? Too bad, it won't do anything. Quit (maybe force quit if it's required) the program and it's done. The user can stop it at will at any point also, by quitting iChat or the "latestpics" program, unplugging your internet connection, or turning your modem or wireless access off, cancel the iChat file transfers, etc. Common sense here...

I knew there was someone out there who was going to post like this. US Mac Users, YOU stupid PC people, etc....believe me having either platform has nothing to do with it. sigh :/ You're right with the common sense but ease up on insulting the 75% of us "smart" pc users.

I use both platforms so that makes me a smart-stupid person?

enough with the mac vs. pc....come on. grow up. They each have their advantages and disadvantages. No need to beat a dead subject here. And as phattyphil said, it really isnt a virus, and wont harm your platform. The reason there arent as many virus for macs is because people want to infect mass amounts of people. and ofcourse, most people us PC's. Ofcourse, mac claims that their system is harder to penetrate, but how do we know? I like my mac. I like my PC. There are more viruses for PC's. But who cares. As everyone has said, dont click random links to porn sites and youll be fine.

I don't think anyone is trying to diss Macs or Mac users as a whole, just those who are ignorant enough to reply to people with PCs who have problems with a reply like "Get a Mac, they never get viruses.." or something of the sort. I for one think it is very annoying to see someone say something like that..

That's just like someone coming here and posting "I'm having problems with my Spyder, please help." And someone comes and replies "Get a 1200 dollar DM6, problem solved." The price difference isn't realistic, but the ignorance and stupidity of the reply is all the same..so pretty much what I'm trying to say is my post above laughing about Mac owners isn't directed at Moe, or Phil, or anyone in particular..just the kids I've seen posting replies like "OMG BUY A MAC"

its a signal your xbox is able to recieve via ip and your xbox will accept the signal, which tells it that all sorts of things are happening in a game, chat, voice messages, etc and overloads it causing your xbox processor to fry.
