What exactly does an ASA do? And why would you need one?

Air source adapter (ASA)

That is where you screw your tank into.

"Air Source Adapter" basically defines any part of the gun where you can screw an air tank into. what type of ASA are you talking about? the one on the bottom of the gun or the one where the expansion chamber/reg screws into?

usually people buy aftermarket ones that have on/off valves and/or for looks.
