they gave a longer warranty, and you probably have a 65nm one which is less likely to overheat, but really its all about the user. put it somewhere with high airflow, corners and on top of components tend to be a bad idea. keep it off of the carpet, and in my experience, standing 360's are cooler. Use a surge protection power strip. That's my advice. Mine has never had problems. If games start taking forever to load, its overheating, either let it cool down, and move it too a cooler place or You can put a SOLID plastic ice pack in the vicinity of the back fan and it will help cool it down. Usually these "heatups" only happen if its been on for 2+ hours in a confined area and your house room temp is already over 78* (wtf furnace!).

the light is user neglect 80% of the time, it's over sensationalized and it doesn't happen to anyone who knows something about airflow.

ya most any new xbox dont overheat unless you got an old one, if you want to be real protective of overheating check out http://www.llamma.com/ they have all kind of xbox mods, including ones to keep it cooler, but ull void ur warranty doing most of it, But u can make it look totally different.:D
