View Full Version : American Gladiator BACK

01-05-2008, 04:56 PM
So, as some of you may know, the classic "American Gladiator" will be back on TV tomorrow. The reruns of the old show (like from the 80's) appear on ESPN classic a lot. Who's planning on watching to see if they did the original justice?

01-05-2008, 05:01 PM
I already have it on DVR set to record :)

I cant wait to see it.

I'm gonna watch it. LOVED the old series - had a serious crush on Lace back in the day!

My 14 month old likes to play nerf too, lets see those steroid pumped boneheads do something other than lane losers off the break. Or, "gee, I'm 150 soaking wet, I bet I have a pretty good chance getting past this 260lb gorrilla who's only mission is to try to send my ass into the 3rd row of spectators."

What's below meh, again?

The characters this time around appear to be classed up/trashed down/whored down versions of "professional wrestlers".

The Pumper

I've seen them alot couple months ago.
Its alright. Some of the events are stupid, though.

I heard a commercial for this on the radio this mornign when i woke up(er afternoon) if im home i plan on watching it.

01-06-2008, 11:00 AM

01-06-2008, 11:08 AM
I'll probly watch it looks good, I watch the old series sometimes, pretty good show.
and critical, I think you were looking for Pfft

01-06-2008, 05:32 PM
omg. this is hilarious.

crush is hot. everyone else is veiny-weird.

01-06-2008, 05:44 PM
i missed the first half watching the debates...

01-06-2008, 06:17 PM
so far not impressed.

so far not impressed.
idk, first was meh. the second was a redeemer.

btw how much lulz is broken knee in the first event.

01-07-2008, 03:39 AM
I was only impressed with the female Eliminator event in the first episode - pretty good comeback! Oh, and the hot blonde female marine that cracked her head on the steel bar in the water - finished bleeding. And still almost beat her opponent.

Otherwise, meh.

Anyone besides me think that some of the events seemed a little, um, fishy? Like it was staged somehow?

01-07-2008, 04:56 AM
I agree Vike...

We watched the original and there was never an injury. First episode within 15 minutes a gladiator out and a contender??? Come on.

And fishy, yes I think so.

I will see how tonights show does before I remove it from the DVR list.

01-07-2008, 05:27 AM
i think its an awesome show if you dont take anything seriously. the second you start caring about it, it turns stupid.

01-07-2008, 06:43 PM
I don't think you can really put much thought into American Gladiator. ;)

I think they did an alright job of replicating the old one, plus it has Hulk Hogan! Which is generally a recipe for awesomeness, despite his brief acting career. But he's Hulk, so I'll let that slide.... for now.

Seemed interesting, the first injury of the night though easily could've been real, looked like she landed funny, and might've torn the cartilage in her knee. Not fun.

there's a good reason to watch American Gladiators. Pictured above is gladiator(gladiatress???) Gina Carano, aka "Crush".

01-08-2008, 03:07 PM
she looks alot thicker on the show

01-08-2008, 03:18 PM
IDK... not by much.

01-08-2008, 04:18 PM
yea she is pretty hot

01-08-2008, 04:26 PM
I'd let Crush manhandle me. That chick is wife material.

01-08-2008, 06:52 PM
Crush & Siren oh so nice!

01-08-2008, 07:04 PM
I don't know, I'm more partial to Venom. Blondes just do it for me, I guess!

But a couple of the female contenders have been pretty shiny as well!

01-09-2008, 12:20 PM
eh, vike... she's kinda got a quagmire face. her jaw is totally manly.

crush is hot and actually good at fighting (UFC), I'd agree with g on this and say that crush is by far the hottest in that she could totally kick my ass... and somehow that would be hot.

01-09-2008, 01:45 PM
Meh, tomato tuhmahto - I prefer Venom. The jaw thing doesn't bother me a bit as her body is totally rockin'...

By your thinking, you should be totally hung up on Helga, haha! And if you get off on ass kicking, I'm pretty sure any of them would turn ya on, HDH...(I'm not too manly to admit that any of them could beat the living poo outta me at any given moment...)

01-09-2008, 01:52 PM
ew. clearly there was some misinterpretation, as logically I cannot find any path that might lead to the conclusion that Helga > Crush. If I recall, Helga came from a "sport" that is essentially just acting for an audience that enjoys trashy drama. Crush comes from a sport that has some class. Plus I'm not into big girls.

01-09-2008, 01:53 PM
I believe helga is actually a man, she scares the crap out of me

01-09-2008, 02:06 PM
my bad, Helga actually wasn't in pro wrestling, she was in strong woman competition, I was confusing her with that ditsy girl that always yells "woooo".
IDC if she isn't "fat", she's just big. The thing I have for Crush isn't that she's strong, it's that she can fight, just being able to lift **** is kinda lame, whether you are a guy or girl, go in an arena and show that you can do something with it and you're a winner IMO. There's no way Helga can fight beyond just a few slow hits, her muscles are too big to be practical in fighting unless she's just doing some 1 punch fighting. Crush is fast and strong.

01-09-2008, 02:40 PM
crush isn't overly built like some of the others crush>venom

01-09-2008, 03:40 PM
I've also noticed that Helga hasn't been in anything but the gauntlet, and she pretty much sucked at that.

(I think she's a man, too...)

I'm just playing with ya, Claus!

01-09-2008, 04:03 PM

see, IDK... I don't like being able to see all of the muscle like that... it's wierd. Crush has the healthy look, and the fighting skills without having veiny arms.

01-09-2008, 04:47 PM
she looks alot thicker on the show

She's probably 8-15 lbs heavier on the show. If she's a professional fighter she cut's weight the week of there fight. Weighs in at there limit then packs on the lb's again before there fight. She is more cut in the pic on the scale.
