Today I'm signing another 6 years of my life to the Army. But theres more to the story... for said 6 years I'm signing away I'm getting a bonus for $19,0000. I love what I do and now am getting some cold hard cash to pay off bills and put away as well. As you can probably tell I'm a little excited. Just figured I'd share the good news.

nice! you probably wont be staying in hawaii for much longer though, right?

nope guaranteed to stay in Hawaii until next November. My job right now is considered a critical MOS so they are paying out for anyone in the field eligible to reenlist. The $19,000 would have probably would have been closer to $30,000 if I was on my way to Afghanistan or Iraq.

Wow, congrats. My brother is in the Navy and he just reenlisted. He was eligible for a $15,000 bonus if he would have kept his job, but for some reason he didn't. Instead he told them he didn't want to be on a ship anymore so he got nothing

I think if I was healthy I'd join some division of the armed services. I'd probably sign up to be a Navy Pilot.

How does the family feel about the second tour?

Either way proud of you for defending our freedom!

My family I guess more than anything is used to it now, but they've had almost 9 years to get used to it. Without them though I don't think I would have come as far as I have.

thats good to hear.

supasnipa- if you decide to change your mind by the time you 17 or 18 since you signed the paper they will probly call a couple times a year (once you turn 18), my brother was going to go into the national guard but changed his mind and now they call a couple times a year trying to recruit him.

WOW $19,000!! I could pay off my student loan & finally build my 3/4ton 4x4 & still have money to put back.

I would have joined the Marines after high school but with how my knees are, they would have said go home or gave me something boring to do. Thats if my knees didnt go out in basic.
