thats actually pretty cool. since its a sniper, i would throw a bipod on there to balance it out some.

Tech Steve
12-12-2007, 09:06 AM
i only rock it with a 50 round hopper so it's perfect... shoots so smooth.. i love low pressure... the best thing is it's quiet

DFSniper
12-12-2007, 10:20 AM
what i meant to say was that if you put a bipod on it, you can level it out better when youre sniping (im assuming youre using a remote) and itll cut down on movement and pressure on your left arm. i know its not gonna shoot perfectly straight, but every little bit helps (i hunt and was captain of the competition marksmanship team in high school).

About the only "hard" part about putting VS internals into an older body is filling the valve cross pin holes & filling the exhust port in the lower tube then putting new ones in there.

I have two complaints, first you stole my 45* ASA idea, secound I see perfectly good rails on the sides there wiht no accessories mounted that is just disgraceful.

TechSteveToken
12-12-2007, 10:18 PM
the trick with puting low pressure internals is that you have to drill holes for the exhaust ports for the striker... all you need to do to fill them is cut down roll pins... the hardest part is finding the right spring combination... acs bolt spring used for valve spring... if any of you could shoot this thing, you would know why it's the greatest... no remote coil, uses 13cu 3000 psi tank... vs internals require compressed air... vs bolt isn't a bad upgrade either...

TechSteveToken
12-12-2007, 10:21 PM
the main reason for the low pressure is too make it more air efficient, more quite, and a huge decrease in kick and blowback... anyone can add an electronic trigger to these, but the lack of eyes and the fact that it's side feed really limits the marker... i will put my mr1 to the test against anyones mr1... speed doesn't mean a victory

How do you like the Bob Long on/off? The stock ASA on my MR1 is garbage (using zip ties for support)...just upgraded to a Palmer Stabilizer, need a new ASA.

Does the ASA mount directly into the bottom of the trigger frame?

Tech Steve
12-13-2007, 03:58 PM
i had to use an adapter because it has the older trigger frames, on/off is nice because the screw spins in place... doesn't actually go in and out

Anyone know where to get the MR2 Charging Handle, or T-Handle cocking lever as ya'll put it? Have you tryed emailing Spyder? I have heard that their techs are really helpful. They may know where to get one. The parts numbers are 266, 267, 268 (http://www.spyder.tv/section/support/diagrams/mr2.pdf).

Question - does the MR2/3 T-cocking lever move back and forth as the bolt moves like the original knob does? If not - that is definitely the best thing ever because I have a 30mm red dot sight that barely fits over the cocking knob and it is a pain to cock back with the sight sitting over it.

I am assuming that it doesn't by watching vids on utube and also looking at the diagram. The mr2's bolt is almost the same design as the mr1. they just cut the knurled part off of part number 257 (http://www.spyder.tv/section/support/diagrams/mr2.pdf) and the "T" handle is cupped to fit over the bolt. It also has a spring built into it to keep the T pulled forward.

Is there a place I can get a MR2/MR3 T-cocking handle? (without buying a whole new MR2/MR3 haha) or will I have to mod my own? I wonder if Kingman sells individual repair parts.....hmmmm?.......

Tech Steve
12-19-2007, 03:39 PM
the t handle is not connected to the bolt so it stays in place as the bolt slides back and forth... kingman does have them for purchase and they are in stock... yes it is a 45 frame from an elite... metal top, plastic handle, and i put a black trigger in it.

So In theory in order to save space from the top cocking pin... I could order the T-handle as the person did in the beginning of this post and mount it up top? It would def. save me space with my scope im sure.... but how would I go about ordering the part in the first place? I cant google anything about extra kingman spyder parts....

Tech Steve (http://www.spyder.tv/forums/member.php?u=3284)
Maybe you could give us some tips on where you got your t-handle and also how you put it on your MR1. T3rR0r, you may need to call Kingman to get the parts. Some one listed the telephone number earlier in the post. You can also email them from the spyder home page.

Tech Steve
12-20-2007, 02:53 PM
You can call kingman at 626-430-2300 for the parts. The t-handle is really tricky to put on. You have to grind the top cocking knob and get a longer back screw and grind it down to fit INTO the channel of the t-handle. Also if the scope is not over the t-handle, there will be no way for the t-handle to stay on. Mine just happens to be the perfect fit...

i know this thing isn't the best looking... it is the greatest by a PERFORMANCE stand point...

Hmm... I didnt know it was that technical and I dont feel like messing with my new gun....yet...... heh..... Ill wait and see how my mount, red dot sight, and the new aluminum feed neck adapter play out.... I know itll prolly be tight... but its better than not being able to use a red dot at all..... ;)

This is what I did. I didn't have to buy anything. The only problem with mine is that the stock is not useable. I still have the stock cocking knob and the mod can be undone in just a few minutes. A lot of people have been giving me junk about the rear bolt hitting my face or whatever. That is why I used the round eyebolt. It has hit the mask once or twice. I didn't even notice.

Thanks. That pic is a little old. It was just easier to get it out of the old thread. I now have the j&j on the marker and soon I'll have the new E-trigger on there, too!:p Next is the hopper and HPA soon. I am on the look out for a tank on the cheap. I have a friend who got one off of craigslist.com for cheap. I dont know what the test dates are.

if you want a stock i think trinity makes one that goes in the bottom tube

kramernator
12-22-2007, 07:23 PM
this may not work, i don't even have an MR2 but could you....

plug in the gas co2 or HPA
pull back the bolt (so you can fire)
then unscrew that silver hook thing
then put the stock on

that way you get the best of both worlds, plus there is no external moving parts, right?

but if your gun jams, how are you going to recock it??And that, my friends is the million dollar question. I saw a guy on youtube that did his that way and he "advised" to take the red dot scope off of the marker and use the corner to recock.:p Ummm. In the middle of a fire fight? No thanks. I see no way to do it short of the T-bar handle mod. The point is moot with me because I don't care to use the stock. I didn't like the way it felt with the mask.

DFSniper
12-23-2007, 04:53 PM
i wish we could all go back to striker-cocking spyders... no pull-through pins to worry about losing, no unsightly cocking rods/pins, and smaller, lighter bolts that dont need the excess metal/delrin on the back to house the cocking mechanism...

dwayne mifflin
12-30-2007, 11:14 AM
you can just tap and plug the exaust hole under the grip frame with a small pipe plug.no mystery there....p.s. what grip frame is that from a spyder compact?

Tech Steve
01-02-2008, 11:20 AM
you don't even need to tap it. You just need to cut the pins from the trigger frame roll pins and they will fit. It is an elite trigger frame, metal frame, plastic handle.

I beg to differ. It just isn't the same kind of sniper as a military sniper. They still do the same thing. Silence, one shot, one kill... stealth... work in alone or with one other person. The only difference is you're RIGHT near the "bad guys" and not 100yrds apart.

The bi-pod would save your arms when you're lying down for long periods of time.

I think my MR1 is pretty great :(
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y81/TeddyBearFuzz/IMG_8902OTM.jpg

Only thing I could do to mine to make it "greater" is to convert it to LP. But I don't care about LP. I wanted a cheap marker that gets the job done effectively.

ok, so the mail came and I got the folding stock on it and I ran the micro line on the other side, but the straight fitting does not hold the hose at all - it just slides in and out - so I am going to have to get another one for it to work out. but here is a pic with the stock folded up - as for barrel, I am saving up for a J&J, and once I get that I am going to chop down the stock barrel to about 3" or so. How bad would performance drop off if I cut down the stock barrel to 3"? Because I am a bit impatient and might not wait till I get the new barrel...

How did you mount that sight on there without a rail? Was it easy or did it require moding the sight?

Technically it is a "riser" - go to ebay and search "QD quick disconnect weaver rail" or something to that effect. It is just long enough to fit between the feedneck and the cocking knob and you can attach anything to it that will fit on a weaver rail. I didn't have to mod the sight or anything. The "riser" set me back about 15 bucks and it is solid. Plus I can take off my Red dot whenever I want without allen wrenches.

that looks similar to the mr1 pistol i'm working on... i ran micro line through the trigger frame and just run a remote out of a custom asa i made... nice 2" barrel made works great...

I've wanted to do exactly this for a while now. I don't really know a lot about modifying air system (/CO2 system) stuff, and there's no good shops in my area to ask, so I have been reluctant to try it. I was hoping to run an air line along the side of the marker (instead of down, so I guess that calls for a 90-degree bend or two?), and then through the trigger frame and out to some kind of fitting that would attach to a remote. I'd really appreciate it if you could post some details and photos of the project you mention above, and maybe a list of parts, too.

Thanks!

Has anybody else noticed how far off-topic this thread has gone. There's like 8 pages here of other people's projects with no mention of Tech-Steve's original marker. Maybe we should make a "MR-1 Project Thread" specifically for stuff like this instead of taking over other people's threads.

it's all good... i like seeing other peoples projects and what they can do with it...

accuracy is actually really nice with the pistol, i cut the stock barrel and it still shoots very accurate... enough to hit a 1 foot diameter target easy from 50+ feet away...

thats a little old pic... i already ran the micro line, and it is fully functional!!!

BYUrdneck

pretty slick. Before you mentioned that you ran micro line through the grip - how did you get that to snake around the internals?

Hey Tech Steve, on your "greatest MR-1 ever" the green one...how did you attach those small weaver rails on the sides of your gun? It looks like you used the pin hole that holds the valve body...if so what kind of screw did you use to anchor the two rails...

Tech Steve
04-22-2008, 01:54 PM
i did a lot of dremmeling inside of the trigger frame to get the micro line to hit... i rethreaded the hole and used extra grip screws from the dm6 i had...

is the micro line strong enough to run CO2? I know macro line will, but haven't heard much about micro line...to me it looks flimsy at the store...

Tech Steve
04-22-2008, 03:51 PM
i have a really stiff micro line, but i'm also running it at 300psi... i ran it at 800 and had no problems though... i would think that the CO2 could easily clog the line if liquid would get into it.

try putting macroline into a trigger frame...

DFSniper

hmm, being a pistol, microline would actually work since you don't need a lot of air really fast. i would make the barrel a little longer though and add a mock silencer, but thats just me.

Well steve for what its worth i think you have a sick MR1 and if it isnt the best out there it's damn close. The reason I came to that conclusion is all the custom work that went into it that most people know nothing about. When you take on a do it yourself project like that it takes alot of time patience and skill to pull off all the home moding and still have it look great. You did that so I am giving you my vote on the Greatst MR1 ever built.

Tech Steve

can i make you dinner, maybe some shrimp fettucini alfredo!!! lol thanks for the vote, its nice for someone to appreciate my work... i do want to see your mr2... hurry with the pics!!!... pistol, i might go with a longer barrel to make it a little quiter, it has a real POP right now...

Steve it looks cool and all but you will still need to put a hopper on it, correct? So if thats the case I feel that it is more of a MR1 compact than a MR1 pistol. Tomato, tamato... What do you have planned for the loading of the paint?

DFSniper
04-23-2008, 02:48 PM
its meant to be shot with one hand, so it wouldnt be a "compact"

i would suggest a 10rd tube system, or a feed tube out of pvc. i made one for my hammer and it works great!

Make a mag from the homemade gear section

Damn you steve, you beat me to it.....

I had it all planned out but then I realized that the macroline I got was too stiff to bend through the trigger.

For my barrel I had the stock cut down to 4" and I'm working on getting a grove lathed into the end of it so I can fit an apex on it.

I'd love to see the trigger with the line run as it was my nemesis....

04-23-2008, 05:09 PM
homedepo or lowes doesnthave anything like that? maybe if you can find just a spring you can pull it until it works

slim and shady
04-23-2008, 05:11 PM
lots of places have springs but they are way to stiff you need a nice light one.

XSiv Force
04-23-2008, 05:12 PM
if you heat up a spring to be soft that will loosen the stiffness of it.....just dont make the metal into magma

slim and shady

I know i did that for a self shutting gate i made.....the original srping i used would slam the pole holding the lock so hard that the cement which i used to hold the stake into the ground with came up....so in fit a fit of frustation i threw it into a fire and realized i needed it so i put it back on and it worked better

I would like to know where you got the T handle cocking bolt and what you had to buy to get it to work. I also want to know where you bought it at and how you installed it.

Tech Steve
04-29-2008, 11:26 AM
you can get the parts from kingman... the install is completely custom... a lot of work, it worked for my set up because of the scope, wont work without for me...
