View Full Version : The unveiling. Project idiots ruin markers, I'm here to save them.

And so it begins. haha. This will be a word, and picture documentary through my ups and lows with this.....I dont even know what to call it. lol.

Here are some pics i took right when i got it:

http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/7499/primal12cp.th.jpg (http://img69.imageshack.us/my.php?image=primal12cp.jpg)

This is what the idiot did trying to get the paint off of the other side...
http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/2667/primal28gg.th.jpg (http://img69.imageshack.us/my.php?image=primal28gg.jpg)

So, finally got it all here and what not. Of course, I had to take it apart. That was a goodtime. Special thanks to otter and his website. :)
http://img419.imageshack.us/img419/9376/primal36ar.th.jpg (http://img419.imageshack.us/my.php?image=primal36ar.jpg)

Now, the fun starts...Getting the paint off. I picked up some Powder blast gun cleaner.
http://img419.imageshack.us/img419/9051/primal40au.th.jpg (http://img419.imageshack.us/my.php?image=primal40au.jpg)
It did a hell of a job! I was very very excited when I saw the outcome.
http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/426/primal56dn.th.jpg (http://img69.imageshack.us/my.php?image=primal56dn.jpg)

Thats all I got so far. I will continue to update this as new parts get cleaned, and new developments come along!

Cleaned some more parts off, and had my first thing go wrong...oh noes! Here are some pictures.
http://img315.imageshack.us/img315/7135/primal70mk.th.jpg (http://img315.imageshack.us/my.php?image=primal70mk.jpg)
I was neive to think that the anno under the paint would not be scratched. The drop is pretty messed up. The feedneck isnt much better. The trigger frame and trigger are goood though. That was good to see.

And, for the thing that went wrong......
http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/6848/primal68ex.th.jpg (http://img98.imageshack.us/my.php?image=primal68ex.jpg)
The gun cleaner and plastic eye covers reacted somehow...and the eye covers got the short end of the stick. Im not sure what to do. Im going to try to clean them up the best I can.

Thats it for now.

I got a good amount of work done today. Got most of the paint off of everything, and attempted to strip the anno off of the body. heres a generic pic. I will get more specific ones up when i have a chance.

http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/5319/primal75wu.th.jpg (http://img140.imageshack.us/my.php?image=primal75wu.jpg)

What can I do to help, you may ask??? Monitary donations are always welcome. My paypal is moe243@sbcglobal.net. I will assure you that any and all donations WILL go straight to the gun.

As for parts, I will have a list below of what i need.
-Small N2 tank
-Eye covers

02-11-2006, 03:00 PM
Hmmm....don't know what to tell you about the eye covers

EDIT: Well, maybe because they are plastic....

02-11-2006, 07:00 PM
Well, maybe because they are plastic.... seems to be the reason, i think you could talk to the kingman admin here (he was like kingmangroup at the last forum, he might be able to sell you a new set of detents, or you could mod some timmy ones to fit.

02-11-2006, 09:14 PM
yes...i am aware that they are plastic. lol. the white stuff kind of comes off...so, ill see what i can do with it.

02-11-2006, 10:20 PM
I'd be willing to bet that because plastics are a petroleum based product, the Powder Blast changed/weakened it at the molecular level.
Get metal covers and new detents

02-12-2006, 03:50 AM
Wouldn't the paint come of if you soak the parts in thinner?
It shouldn't do anything to the anno underneath.
Just don't put the plastics in the bath.
(Correct me if I'm wrong)

02-12-2006, 04:41 AM
It probably would work. The stuff Im using now is doing a great job though. Dont try to fix something thats not broke. :)

02-12-2006, 05:57 AM
That trigger frame came out surprising well. that thing is really shiny. keep up the good work and keep us posted on Project: When Idiots Ruin Markers. and that drop forward looks like it got owned.

02-12-2006, 09:34 AM
you should probably polish the entire thing lol

02-12-2006, 11:58 AM
yeah i wouldn't have put the plastic in the remover. but you can like others said modify stock timmy eye covers or make a new set out of plexi glass or some material of that sort

02-12-2006, 07:14 PM
This is a pain in the ass! lol...the paint is freakin everywhere. Its not comming off of the LPR very well.....gay.

02-12-2006, 07:18 PM
orange Go*Jo or similar greas/petroleum remover that you can use on your HANDS...smear it on, let it set a while and use a toothbrush to get it off

02-12-2006, 08:03 PM
good idea with the tooth brush. thanks!

02-13-2006, 12:14 AM
NP....here to help

02-13-2006, 12:34 AM
and that drop forward looks like it got owned.

i'm pretty sure what you are referring to is the trigger guard. the d/f is in some of the other pics.

looking good Moe! good luck with the rest.

02-13-2006, 03:17 PM

whoa... hey... i dont want to learn anything...:D

02-13-2006, 06:45 PM
we know that claus :D ......j/p

02-14-2006, 04:11 PM
Wow, that frame came out nice. As for the covers, maybe just buy some new ones from kingman? they cant be that expensive...

02-14-2006, 11:37 PM
No way, buy some new kila detents. Also if you want a re-anno PM me!

02-15-2006, 12:00 AM
i'm pretty sure what you are referring to is the trigger guard. the d/f is in some of the other pics.

nahh the trigger guard looks good, the drop is nailed. i think he was looking at the d/f that was in the pic with the trigger frame, trigger etc.

02-15-2006, 11:43 AM
Ive been busy, and havent gotten a chance to work on this all week. Lame. Ill probably bust it out again this weekend. And yes, the previous owner did, somehow, own the hell out of the DF. Its nice and scratched up. Ill probably end up stripping the anno off of that, and the body. If i cant make the covers look good by repainting them, ill just buy new stock ones. i really dont want to spend much money on this project!

02-16-2006, 11:18 AM
good job. go to otter's site and look up how to make ceramic detents.

02-17-2006, 05:39 PM
You could get it re-anno'd for $70!

02-17-2006, 08:54 PM
WHERE WHERE WHERE. lol. I am actually interested. let me know.

I got a new updated pic on the first post. I got all the anno off of the body, and the rest of the acrylic paint off of all the parts today. Any one got any ideas of how to get the scratches off the body????

02-18-2006, 12:44 AM

Just tell him Timbertiger sent you and show him pics of the marker:)

Also would look hot Black with blue highlights and barrel black with blue flames!

02-18-2006, 04:43 AM
Cheap anno...
Is it a deal for you alone or is it going rates?

02-18-2006, 05:46 AM
400 grit sandpaper to get the larger scratches off, maybe even 200 if they are really deep

02-18-2006, 08:13 AM
thanks for the site timberwolf. If i have enough money I will do that, but i doubt I will. and, thanks again monkeywiz, for making it look good. lol. Ill bust out the sand paper. its gonna be a PAIN cuz the body is so.....not flat. ugh.

thanks for the help!

02-18-2006, 09:51 AM
Those are the going rates........he has a state of the are comuter system so once it's racked it's all done by computer. He preps them as well. Moe.....send him a pic and show him what your doing. He may cut you a deal for before and after stuff. Also he does polish them out but.......you'd have to show him.

02-18-2006, 01:52 PM
If i decide to get it anno'd, i will definitely contact that guy, and mention your name.

02-18-2006, 03:19 PM
monkeywhiz...by chance, were you using that to hammer in tent stakes of womething???...wow dude, emery paper and water to get most of the scratching off then 1000 grit (XXFine)...then Mother's Mag polish....

02-18-2006, 03:41 PM
druid, thats my work....he just retouched the image. Thats all from the idiot that owned it before me. It was scratched to crap when i got under then acrylic paint.

edit: sadly enough, thats the good side....:(

02-18-2006, 05:04 PM

02-18-2006, 09:49 PM
its far from done. Thats just what the body looked like when i got the anno off.

02-19-2006, 04:49 AM
The body & tray are the only parts that really look "terrible", the tray should be easy if it comes off since it's flat to sand. The body will be fun :dodgy:, it will look good at least anoed though, so don't half ass the sanding!

02-19-2006, 05:11 AM

No harm done. :)
I only thought it's a shame with the dark pictures. I really want to se the process so I re-touched the pictures.
When the job was allready done; why not post it for all to see?

I can even consider making a deal with Moe.
Mail me your pic's and I'll post them re-touched?

Just keep up the good work and I will be honored to help out. :)

02-21-2006, 08:12 AM
edit: sadly enough, thats the good side....:(

i was wondering about that. i didnt remember it being that, well, unscratched in the earlier pics. cant wait til its done.

02-21-2006, 02:21 PM
maybe the kid took a butter knife to it....you know to ruff up the gun and make the paint stick better:rolleyes2:....rofl :roflmao::roflmao:

02-21-2006, 02:59 PM
number one rule of scratching paint off... use something softer than the metal! stainless steal vs aluminum... erka derk of course it will scratch... wooden stick... might not work as well, but it wont scratch aluminum unless you are insanely strong.

02-21-2006, 03:09 PM
I used drano. took everything right off. just exposed some nastyness underneat.

02-21-2006, 03:38 PM
but it wont scratch aluminum unless you are insanely strong.

like me

glad 2 c it's comin along there bucko. can't wait 2 c it finished

02-28-2006, 06:11 PM
some one mentioned the metal eye cover. can any one tell me where i can get those from? and dipping it in a paint thinner bath. wouldn't that completelly destroy the smooth coating inside the champer?

03-01-2006, 12:39 AM
the inside isnt exactly smoothed out, and it wont really matter since Kingman has low tolerances. when they paint over it, it goes over straight, so if theres a crack, it wont fill the crack. the layer of paint will have the same thickness all the way around, they dont double up paint to fill uneven areas, as far as i know. did any of that make sense?

as for eye covers, im pretty sure www.paintballgateway.com sells em.
