I know no one saw this one coming, a new proto gun produced, in the shadow of the PM8 and DM8 series's, the Proto Slg (Super Light Gun, only given name atm):
I would love to see this shoot, and maybe a UL frame on it.

It's a sear tripping marker. But, it's still a spool valve. It also holds a mechanical 3 way.

By the way, nowhere isn't spelled like now where, if you don't spell it like nowhere you spell it like no where. :P

The SLG will be a great first gun for new players and a great backup gun for experienced players.

The SLG is priced below the PMR at $250.

The marker operates using a spool valve and mechanical solenoid (not a solenoid valve) and a sear. The design is not like a matrix or anything else on the market. There are 3 dynamic o-rings and two parts to the bolt kit: bolt and backcap. The marker is more efficient than any of our other guns but is also a bit louder and has a bit more kick.

The SLG has the Hyper3. No LPR. Wired eyes.

The gripframe is a polymer but is much, much stronger than the PMR gripframe. We learned from our mistakes and I would be very surprised if one ever breaks.

The SLG is a solid marker and we hope you guys like it.

------------------
it will run at 180psi

im guessing the electronic part is just for the addition of eyes. no short stroke would be a prob w/o it.

3 way puts pressure on back of bolt, sear releases bolt spool opens, then the 3 way cocks it back by putting air into the front of the bolt.

Nice... I'm surprised Kingman hasn't gone that route with the VS series... that'd eliminate a little more moving weight because you could incorporate the striker into the bolt.. :)

I doubt it's longer then a Shocker. It just looks long because it looks like a slimmed down PMR. Personally, I like it. I can't wait to see how it performs.

timbertiger20
10-25-2007, 07:56 PM
Saw the masks.....wouldn't personally buy one......they are very hard and have a smaller profile which would lead to more sneaking around the edges. It will uncover some chin bones and well I just wasn't impressed.

Now the SLG was well stunning.......Felt pretty good actually, very small and light and I think it will really mess up that ion market!

so the only reason it has electronics are for the eyes?

Oscum Guy
10-26-2007, 11:17 AM
it will prolly help short stroke issues as well, beacuse if there isnt enough pressure put on the sear it wont release.

I kinda stopped playing paintball but I went to my local shop today and I saw the slg. Its small as hell and its the lightest gun I held, lighter than ion, shocker, pmr. I wanted to shoot it but since its brand new I couldn't. its the next gun Im going to buy.

shot one today, i was very impressed,

i felt no noticable kick, only 3 orings, so maintenance is easy, it shot pretty smooth, and felt pretty good in my hands.

the only thing i didnt like the trigger was somewhat walkable, didn't like it very much, and the feedneck well sucks

i compared it to my pmr(stock0

size - length its about the same, but the slg had a smaller profile,
weight - the slg wa ighter but not buy much
trigger - the pmr trigger was easier to walk
looks - slg just looks sleeker and cooler to me
performance - the pmr was louder but they both shot about the same, no noticable kick for both, accuracy was about the same. the hyper 3 reg seem to perform the same as the hyper 2, but since the marker is new, the reg hasn't been broken into yet
mainteniance(first looks, haven't tried long run yet) - the slg has like on 3 orings, so if there is a leak its very easy to fine,
the back cap on the slg was better than the pmrs, ther is a button you can press that lets all the air out so when you twist the back cap out easily

overall

slg>pmr so far

new trigger, feedneck and barrel on this and this would rip,

Do you think there will be any aftermarket boards?

yep the same modes as a stock pmr, has wired eyes,

nope,

the trigger frame and the way it works is similar to a spyder,

the operation is kind of like an automag the way it releases the bolt, but the way it returns the bolt is kind of new. i think its a 2 way ram. after the bolt is release pressure in the front chamber recocks it,

so its a dye version of an automag,

i like it, so simple and good at the same time, only 4 orings,

Olive is a nice color, that's why.

Strike: I'm really impressed with this gun. Probably the best investment I've made, paintball-wise. Eye-logic is awesome, kick is minimal, never knew a sear is capable of such potential, the hyper3 shoots darts I was literary mowing faces :), it's so easy to maintain, it's actually easier than a spyder!

Will try posting a video today when I get home from work. If not until tomorrow.

It's perfect for my needs. As stated above, it's easy to clean, maintain, simple design, hyper 3 stock, reliable, shoots darts, efficient (about a hopper and ~5 pods off of a 70/3000psi tank)

I will try making a video of it tomorrow since I couldn't today. I won't leave you guys hanging

Kenny - It's basically how the mag works, except it's a whole lot simpler and without springs.
