well while it may have that cool "CQ" look you will lose a LOT of accuracy and velocity. I believe you need a certain amount of room for the gas to propel the pb to it max velocity.......

i see cool cool thankx
by the way I just got my Hammerhead barrel!!!

what are you using? HPA or co2? ive always used HPA and i noticed that when i first got my mr2 it was a big gas hog!! when i bought the ak ex-chamber my shots per tank went up around 300 shots per fill. that may not be alot to some people but to me it keeps me on the field a little longer.

Using a shorter barrel will not really affect your velocity and/or accuracy very much. People use 5-6" barrels all the time with no problems. As long as you stick to the same rules you do with all other barrels you will be fine. Make sure you have a good paint-to-barrel match and your accuracy should be fine. As for velocity, the barrel is short, so it takes less to propel the ball out of the barrel. The longer the barrel, the more air it takes because the ball is contacting the barrel, creating friction, for a longer period of time. Only difference you will probably see, well hear actually, is your marker will probably be louder.

I did exactly what you are talking about i cut my stock barrel down so that it sticks out 1/4 of an inch past the shroud, barrel works great. There is no loss of accuracy or velocity. I use mine for CQ urban combat so accuracy isnt as big of a deal when a long shot consists of 20 feet.
I got my hands on another stock barrel and cut it 1 1/2 inch out side the shroud to, just enough room that i could slip my apex on it, that works great and looks cool. The other peice of the barrel I am going to take to a machinest friend of mine and get him to put Spyder threads on it then i will cut that one to another desired size.

that's awesome and great information!!! awesome! thankx guys...I'm gonna cut it for saturday...sweet.
Ohhh uhmm how did you cut it?? what tool did you use? I have jigsaw would it do the job???
10-01-2007, 08:17 PM
I'd use a cut off wheel. Either an angel grinder or even a dremel would work. A hacksaw would work as well.

or get it cut at home depot?

Its easy with a hacksaw, whatever you use just make sure and cut it strait.
